The "best" RPG of all time is highly subjective and depends on personal preferences, but several titles are frequently cited as all-time greats due to their storytelling, gameplay, innovation, and impact on the genre. Here are some of the most acclaimed RPGs: Classic Contenders: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (2015) - Why? Immersive open world, deep storytelling, morally complex choices, and unforgettable side quests. - Legacy: Raised the bar for narrative-driven open-world RPGs. Baldurs Gate II: Shadows of Amn (2000) - Why? One of the best Dungeons & Dragons adaptations, with rich characters, tactical combat, and a gripping story. - Legacy: Defined the golden age of CRPGs. Chrono Trigger (1995) - Why? Timeless storytelling, multiple endings, and a perfect blend of JRPG mechanics. - Legacy: A masterpiece from the SNES era that still holds up today. Planescape: Torment (1999) - Why? Philosophical storytelling, deep dialogue, and a unique setting in the D&D multiverse. - Legacy: The best-written RPG ever, according to many fans. Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011) - Why? Unmatched freedom, modding potential, and an endlessly explorable world. - Legacy: One of the most influential open-world RPGs ever. Modern Masterpieces: Divinity: Original Sin 2 (2017) - Why? Incredible turn-based combat, deep role-playing, and unparalleled player freedom. - Legacy: Revitalized the CRPG genre. Dark Souls (2011) - Why? Revolutionary combat, lore-rich world, and punishing yet rewarding gameplay. - Legacy: Defined the "Soulslike" genre. Mass Effect 2 (2010) - Why? Perfect blend of RPG and shooter mechanics, unforgettable characters, and impactful choices. - Legacy: One of the best sci-fi RPGs ever made. Persona 5 Royal (2019) - Why? Stylish presentation, deep turn-based combat, and a perfect mix of life-sim and dungeon crawling. - Legacy: The peak of modern JRPGs. Baldurs Gate 3 (2023) - Why? Unprecedented player freedom, cinematic storytelling, and near-perfect D&D adaptation. - Legacy: Already considered one of the greatest RPGs ever made. Honorable Mentions: Fallout: New Vegas (2010) Best writing in the Fallout series. Final Fantasy VI (1994) A JRPG classic with an emotional story. Dragon Age: Origins (2009) Dark fantasy with deep tactical combat. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017) Blurs the line between action-adventure and RPG. Disco Elysium (2019) A narrative-driven masterpiece with no combat. Final Verdict? If you want deep storytelling, go for Planescape: Torment or Disco Elysium. If you prefer open-world freedom, The Witcher 3 or Skyrim. For tactical combat, Divinity: Original Sin 2 or Baldurs Gate 3. For JRPG excellence, Chrono Trigger or Persona 5 Royal. The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
