player housing world of warcraft
In World of Warcraft (WoW), player housing has been a long-requested feature, but Blizzard has not implemented a full traditional housing system like in some other MMOs (e.g., Final Fantasy XIV or The Elder Scrolls Online). However, there are several alternatives and housing-like features available: Garrisons (Warlords of Draenor Expansion) - Introduced in Warlords of Draenor (WoD), garrisons are the closest thing to player housing in WoW. - Players build and customize their own fortress on Draenor, with buildings like: - Barracks (for followers) - Profession buildings (e.g., Blacksmith, Enchanter) - Stables, Mage Tower, etc. - Limitations: - Mostly instanced (not open-world). - Customization is limited compared to true housing. - Felt mandatory for progression in WoD, leading to mixed player reception. Class Order Halls (Legion Expansion) - Each class gets a unique Order Hall (e.g., Paladins in Lights Hope Chapel, Rogues in the Sewers of Dalaran). - Players can interact with followers, complete missions, and personalize their experience. - Limitations: - Not individually customizable. - Shared with other players of the same class. Farms (Mists of Pandaria - Halfhill) - The Tillers faction in Mists of Pandaria allowed players to tend a small farm in Halfhill (Valley of the Four Winds). - Players could grow crops, decorate with furniture, and build reputation. - Limitations: - Very small-scale compared to garrisons. - Mostly cosmetic. Strongholds (Allied Races & Capital Cities) - Some allied races (e.g., Nightborne, Void Elves) have unique areas in their capital cities. - While not player housing, they offer a sense of racial identity. Transmog & Toy Collections (Cosmetic Personalization) - WoW allows extensive transmog (appearance customization) and toy collections. - Players can show off their style in capital cities or guild halls. Why Doesnt WoW Have Full Player Housing? - Blizzard has stated concerns about: - Instancing issues (too many personal instances could strain servers). - Engagement vs. Isolation (they prefer players to interact in the open world). - Development priorities (focus on raids, dungeons, and other content). Future Possibilities? - Some players still hope for a proper housing system in future expansions. - Potential features could include: - Furniture placement (like FFXIV). - Guild housing (expanding on the current guild halls). - Open-world housing neighborhoods (like WildStar or Lord of the Rings Online). Would you like to see full player housing in WoW? What features would you want?

The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
