nonfirstpersonshootergames
Of course! "Non-first-person shooter games" is a broad category that essentially includes every video game that isn't an FPS. To make sense of it, it's helpful to break it down by the perspective (camera view) and the core gameplay, as many non-FPS games still involve shooting. Heres a breakdown of major genres and examples, focusing on those that feature combat/shooting but from a different perspective. Third-Person Shooters (TPS) The most direct relative of the FPS. The camera is behind or over the shoulder of the character. Characteristics: More emphasis on character movement, cover systems, and acrobatics. You can see your character's animations. Examples: Gears of War (cover-based) Mass Effect series (RPG hybrid) Fortnite (over-the-shoulder building/shooting) Tom Clancy's The Division (looter shooter) Max Payne (bullet time) Control Top-Down / Isometric Shooters The camera looks down on the action from above. This can be a fixed perspective or a slightly angled isometric view. Characteristics: Great for tactical gameplay, managing multiple characters, or dealing with hordes of enemies. Subgenres & Examples: Twin-Stick Shooters: Character moves with one stick and aims/shoots with the other. (Geometry Wars, Enter the Gungeon, Hades) Tactical Shooters/RPGs: Helldivers 2, XCOM 2, Baldur's Gate 3 (with ranged attacks). Action RPGs: Diablo IV, Path of Exile (many "shooter" style builds). MOBAs: League of Legends, Dota 2 (ranged characters function like shooters). Side-Scrolling Shooters The camera is from the side, like a classic platformer, but with a focus on shooting. Subgenres & Examples: Run-and-Gun: Contra, Cuphead, Broforce. Metroidvanias with Guns: Dead Cells (ranged builds), Blasphemous (has ranged prayers). Shoot 'em ups (Shmups): While often top-down or from the side, these are a classic genre focused on dodging bullets and shooting. (Ikaruga, Touhou Project). Strategy Games Shooting is commanded, not directly controlled. Real-Time Strategy (RTS): Command armies with ranged units. (StarCraft II, Company of Heroes). Real-Time Tactical (RTT): More focused on squad control. (Men of War, World in Conflict). Vehicle-Based Shooters You shoot, but from inside a vehicle (not a person). Examples: World of Tanks, War Thunder, Star Wars: Squadrons (space ships), Twisted Metal. Games with Shooting Elements (But Not "Shooters") Many games have guns or ranged combat but belong to other core genres. Action-Adventure: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (bows, runes), Grand Theft Auto V (can be played in third-person). Role-Playing Games (RPGs): Fallout 3/New Vegas/4 (can be played in third-person), Cyberpunk 2077 (third-person cutscenes, but first-person gameplay). Stealth Games: Metal Gear Solid V (extensive third-person shooting). Survival Games: DayZ, Rust (third-person servers/modes). Games with No Shooting at All A huge portion of non-FPS games simply don't involve guns or projectile combat. Fighting Games: Street Fighter 6, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Sports & Racing Games: FIFA, Rocket League, Forza Horizon Platformers: Super Mario Bros. Wonder, Celeste Puzzle Games: Portal (first-person, but a puzzle game first), Tetris Simulations & Management: The Sims 4, Cities: Skylines Horror: Silent Hill 2 (combat is not the focus), Five Nights at Freddy's Key Takeaway: When you say "non-first-person shooter," you could be looking for: Shooters from a different perspective (like Third-Person or Top-Down Shooters). Any game that isn't primarily about gunplay, which opens up the entire world of video games beyond one very popular genre. If you have a more specific interest (e.g., "games like Fortnite* but single-player" or "tactical games with shooting"), that can help narrow down the perfect recommendation!

The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
