That's a deceptively massive question because the number is constantly changing and depends heavily on how you define a "first-person shooter" (FPS). Instead of a single number (which is impossible to give accurately), here's a breakdown to understand the scale: By the Broadest Definition (All FPS Games Ever Made) Thousands, likely tens of thousands. This includes: Commercial AAA and indie games. Free-to-play games. Mods (like Counter-Strike, which started as a Half-Life mod). Freeware, shareware, and hobbyist games from the early internet and digital distribution platforms like itch.io. Game jam prototypes (thousands are made every year). Educational, training, and serious games that use an FPS perspective. By More Practical Categories Major Commercial Releases (AAA & Notable Indie): Several hundred to over a thousand. This is the list you'd find on Wikipedia or major gaming databases. It includes everything from Doom (1993) to Call of Duty to Cyberpunk 2077 (which is an FPS/RPG hybrid). On Digital Storefronts (Steam, Epic, etc.): Several thousand. A Steam search for the "FPS" tag currently returns over 10,000 items. However, this includes: Many low-quality or asset-flip games. Games where FPS is a secondary tag (e.g., survival games with FPS combat). Demos and software tools. A reasonable estimate of "proper" FPS games on Steam alone is likely in the low thousands. By Sub-Genres (a tiny sample for perspective): Military Shooters: Dozens (Call of Duty, Battlefield, Medal of Honor series). Arena Shooters: Dozens (Quake, Unreal Tournament, Halo to an extent). Tactical Shooters: Fewer, but notable (Counter-Strike, Rainbow Six, Valorant). Looter Shooters: A handful (Destiny, Borderlands, The Division). Immersive Sims: A small, revered list (Deus Ex, System Shock, BioShock). Horror FPS: Many (F.E.A.R., DOOM 3, Resident Evil 7/Village in FPS mode). Why a Precise Number is Impossible: No Central Registry: There's no single database tracking every game ever made. Definition is Fuzzy: Is Cyberpunk 2077 an FPS or an RPG? Is Metroid Prime an FPS or an adventure game? Games often blend genres. The "Long Tail": For every Call of Duty, there are hundreds of unknown indie, freeware, and student projects. Constant Creation: New games are released daily on platforms like Steam and itch.io. Conclusion: If you're thinking of well-known, notable FPS games that have made some cultural or commercial impact, the number is in the hundreds. If you include every single piece of software that lets you shoot a gun from a first-person perspective, the number is in the tens of thousands and growing every day. For a curated list, your best bet is to check resources like: Wikipedia: "List of first-person shooters" (covers major releases by year). PCGamingWiki Steam with filtered tags (FPS + "Overwhelmingly Positive" reviews).

The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
