Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

Finding a good entry-level gaming laptop can be tricky because the definition changes depending on the games you want to play. However, as of mid-2024, the "entry level" is defined by two key components: an RTX 3050 or RTX 4050 GPU and a decent 1080p 120Hz+ screen. Here is the breakdown of the best options currently available, categorized by price and performance. The "Gold Standard" Entry Level (Under 800) This is the sweet spot where you get actual modern gaming performance without breaking the bank. HP Victus 15 (The Best Value) CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS or Intel i5-13420H GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 (or 4050 on sale) RAM: 8GB or 16GB (Aim for 16GB) Screen: 15.6" 1080p 144Hz Pros: Best price-to-performance ratio. Reliable build for the price. AMD version has great battery life for a gaming laptop. Cons: The screen hinges can feel a bit wobbly. The base model often comes with 8GB RAM (you'll want to upgrade to 16GB). Fans can be loud. Verdict: The default recommendation. Wait for a sale to snag the 4050 version. Acer Nitro 5 (The Reliable Workhorse) CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7535HS or Intel i5-12500H GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Screen: 15.6" 1080p 144Hz Pros: Solid cooling (good for long sessions). Easy to upgrade RAM and storage. Very common, so easy to find deals. Cons: The design is "gamer-y" and bulky. Battery life is poor. The screen, while 144Hz, is not the brightest or most color-accurate. Verdict: If you can't find a good deal on the HP Victus, the Nitro 5 is the safe bet. Lenovo LOQ (The "Built Better" Option) CPU: Intel i5-13420H or AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Screen: 15.6" 1080p 144Hz Pros: Lenovo's build quality is usually excellent. The keyboard is best-in-class for this price. It runs cooler and quieter than the Acer Nitro. Cons: Often slightly more expensive than the HP Victus for the same specs. Verdict: The best choice if you can stretch your budget by 50-100. The keyboard makes a huge difference for typing. The "Stretch the Budget" Level (Under 1,000) If you can save up just a bit more, you get a massive performance jump by moving to the RTX 4060. This makes the laptop future-proof for 3-4 years. Dell G15 (The 4060 Steal) GPU: RTX 4060 CPU: Ryzen 7 7840HS or Intel i7-13650HX RAM: 16GB Screen: 15.6" 1080p 120Hz or 165Hz Why it's worth it: The RTX 4060 is nearly 50% faster than the RTX 3050. It also supports DLSS 3 Frame Generation, which is a game-changer for new titles. Cons: It's chunky and heavy. The screen color accuracy is average. The Alienware Command Center software is annoying. Verdict: This is the "buy it and forget it" option for 1080p gaming. ASUS TUF Gaming A16 (The All-AMD Alternative) GPU: AMD Radeon RX 7700S (Performance similar to RTX 4060) CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 7735HS Screen: 16" 1080p 165Hz Pros: Excellent build quality (military spec). Best battery life in this price range (up to 10 hours on video). Bigger 16:10 screen. Cons: AMD GPUs are slightly less efficient for Ray Tracing. If you need features like DLSS (Nvidia exclusive), you're out of luck. Verdict: The best option if you need a laptop for school/work all day and game at night. What NOT to Buy (Entry Level Traps) Avoid these common mistakes: Don't buy "GTX 1650" or "RTX 2050" laptops. These are last-gen budget cards. They will struggle with new games (Starfield, Alan Wake 2, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty). Wait for an RTX 3050 at minimum. Don't buy a laptop with 8GB of RAM. Windows 11 and modern games will eat that up. You'll get stuttering. Most laptops mentioned above are easy to upgrade yourself, but factor in the 30-40 cost for a 16GB kit. Don't buy a "gaming" laptop with a 60Hz screen. The whole point of a gaming laptop is smooth motion. A 120Hz+ screen is non-negotiable. Avoid "MSI GF63 Thin" or "ASUS TUF Dash F15" (old models). These have notoriously weak cooling that causes the CPU/GPU to slow down (thermal throttle). You'll get worse performance than a thicker laptop with the same specs. Final Recommendation If you have exactly 600-700: Get the HP Victus 15 with an RTX 3050. If you can wait and save: Get the Dell G15 or Lenovo LOQ with an RTX 4060. It's worth the wait. If you need it for School + Gaming: Get the ASUS TUF A16 for the battery life. One last tip: Set price alerts on sites like Slickdeals or CamelCamelCamel. The HP Victus 15 (RTX 4050) often drops to 599 and the Lenovo LOQ (RTX 4060) drops to 799. Never pay full retail for an entry-level laptop.

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
