Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

Yale School of Drama, now officially known as the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale University, is one of the most prestigious and influential graduate conservatories for theater in the United States. Here is a comprehensive overview covering its key aspects, history, programs, and what makes it unique. Key Facts & Recent Changes Name Change: In 2021, following a landmark 150 million gift from producer and philanthropist David Geffen (the largest single gift to an arts school in U.S. history), the school was renamed the David Geffen School of Drama at Yale University. Tuition-Free Model: A direct result of the Geffen gift, starting in the 2021-2022 academic year, the school became tuition-free for all students. This was a revolutionary move, eliminating the immense financial burden typically associated with top-tier conservatory training. Students are still responsible for living expenses, room, board, and fees, but financial aid is available for those as well. Leadership: The Dean is James Bundy. He has served in this role since 2002 and also serves as the Artistic Director of the Yale Repertory Theatre. Part of a Larger Ecosystem: It is integrally connected with Yale Repertory Theatre, its flagship professional theater company, and the Yale Cabaret, a student-run theater. History and Reputation Founded in 1924 as the Department of Drama in the School of Fine Arts, it became its own school in 1955. It is widely considered the birthplace of modern American theater education, emphasizing a rigorous, collaborative, and text-based approach. The school's reputation is legendary. Combined with Yale Repertory Theatre, it has been a launching pad for countless Tony, Oscar, and Emmy award-winning artists. It was the first drama school in the U.S. to grant a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree. What Makes the Education Distinctive? The philosophy of the Yale School of Drama (YSD) is built on: Collaboration over Competition: Students from all disciplines (actors, directors, playwrights, designers, etc.) work together intensely from day one. The goal is to create a company of artists who learn from each other. Text and Story: A deep respect for the written word is central. Students are trained to analyze, deconstruct, and realize the playwright's vision. The "Yale Rep" Model: The school is inextricably linked to the Yale Repertory Theatre (Yale Rep) , a professional LORT (League of Resident Theatres) theater. Students work alongside professional guest artists and faculty on mainstage productions at Yale Rep. This provides a unique, non-New York, professional environment. Rigor and Intensity: The program is demanding, requiring long hours, high standards, and a total commitment to the craft. Programs and Degrees Offered The school offers programs across all major theatrical disciplines. All are terminal MFA degrees (the highest degree in their field), except for the PhD and Special Students: Acting (MFA): A highly selective, three-year program focusing on voice, movement, text analysis, and scene study. The current head is Ron Van Lieu. Directing (MFA): A three-year program for a very small cohort (typically 3-4 per year). Students direct at Yale Rep, Yale Cabaret, and in the second-year rep season. Playwriting (MFA): A three-year program led by renowned playwrights. Students write multiple plays and have them produced in staged readings and full productions. Dramaturgy and Dramatic Criticism (MFA): Prepares students as literary managers, dramaturgs, and critics. Stage Management (MFA): A three-year program providing experience on Yale Rep productions. Technical Design and Production (MFA): Sub-specialties include: - Sound Design - Projection Design - Lighting Design - Costume Design - Scenic Design - Technical Direction / Production Management Theatre Management (MFA): Prepares leaders for non-profit theater administration. Doctor of Fine Arts (DFA): For advanced theater scholars and practitioners. Special Student Status: For individuals who want to take specific courses without enrolling in a full degree program. The Admission Process (Historically Challenging) Admission to YSD is incredibly competitive. The acceptance rate is very low, often cited around 1-3%. Acting: Requires a rigorous, multi-round audition and a personal interview. Submitted materials and monologues are the first stage out of thousands. Other Disciplines: Require a portfolio review, letters of recommendation, academic transcripts, a personal statement, and an interview. No Undergraduate Program: YSD is a graduate school only. There is no Yale College theater department; the school is entirely for MFA/DFA students. Notable Alumni (A Short List) The list of alumni is staggering and includes: Actors: Meryl Streep, Paul Newman (attended), Angela Bassett, Frances McDormand, Lupita Nyong'o, Sigourney Weaver, Chris Noth, Liev Schreiber, Bradley Cooper (acting program), Elizabeth Banks. Directors: Andre Bishop (Lincoln Center Theater), Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening), Rebecca Taichman (Indecent), Anne Bogart (SITI Company). Playwrights: Christopher Durang, Beth Henley, Wendy Wasserstein, Donald Margulies, Sarah Ruhl. Designers: Santo Loquasto, Jennifer Tipton, Toni-Leslie James. Other: A.R. Gurney (playwright/author). Key Takeaway Yale School of Drama is not just a school; it is a launching pad for a career at the highest level of American professional theater. Its recent move to being tuition-free has made it an even more powerful and accessible option for the most talented applicants, solidifying its position as perhaps the most desirable graduate theater program in the world.

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
