As of now, World of Warcraft (WoW) does not have a traditional player housing system like some other MMORPGs (e.g., Final Fantasy XIV, The Elder Scrolls Online, or WildStar). However, there are several features in WoW that offer housing-like elements: Garrisons (Warlords of Draenor Expansion) - Introduced in Warlords of Draenor, Garrisons were the closest WoW came to player housing. - Players could build and customize their own fortress, recruit followers, and place buildings like stables, workshops, and inns. - Limitations: - Instanced (not open-world). - Mostly functional (crafting, missions) rather than decorative. - Felt isolated from the rest of the game. Class Order Halls (Legion Expansion) - Each class had its own Order Hall, a themed base with NPCs, quests, and upgrades. - More of a shared class hub than personal housing. - Some customization (e.g., artifact weapon displays). Farms (Mists of Pandaria) - The Halfhill Farm in Valley of the Four Winds allowed players to grow crops and cook. - Not true housing, but a small personal space. Guild Halls (Potential Future Feature?) - Some players have requested guild halls, but Blizzard has not implemented them. - Other games (Guild Wars 2, ESO) have successful guild hall systems. Transmog & Toy Collections (Closest to Personalization) - While not housing, WoW allows players to collect transmog gear, mounts, pets, and toys for personal expression. Will WoW Ever Get Housing? - Blizzard has mentioned interest in housing but has not committed to it. - Some datamining in Dragonflight suggested homestead-like features, but nothing confirmed. - If added, it would likely be instanced with decoration options (furniture, trophies, etc.). Alternatives for WoW Players Who Want Housing: - Roleplaying (RP) Servers: Some players use in-game locations (inns, hidden spots) for RP "homes." - FFXIV / ESO: If housing is a must, other MMOs offer deeper systems. The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
