wizard101 how to beat astraeus
Excellent question! Astraeus, the final boss of the Final Bastion dungeon in Empyrea Part 2, is one of the most challenging and puzzle-like fights in the game. You can't just hit him hardyou have to follow a specific mechanic. Heres a step-by-step guide on how to beat Astraeus. The Core Mechanic: The Cosmic Symbols The entire fight revolves around the three cosmic symbols that appear on the sides of the arena: The Crown (Yellow) The Heart (Red) The Sword (Blue) Astraeus will cast a spell that puts a "Cosmic Charge" on one of these symbols. Your goal is to match the symbol he charges with the correct school of magic. The Strategy (Step-by-Step) The Setup (Round 1): DO NOT HIT on the first round. Everyone should set up. One player (usually a support or the person with the best health) should take the role of "Symbol Runner" or "Button Pusher." The other three players should prepare to hit, shield, or support. Reading Astraeus's Move (Round 2): Astraeus will cast a spell like "Cosmic Charge: Crown" or "Cosmic Charge: Heart." Memorize or write down which symbol he charged. Matching the Symbol to the School: This is the crucial part. You must hit Astraeus with the correct school of magic that corresponds to the charged symbol. Crown (Yellow) = Myth School Heart (Red) = Life School Sword (Blue) = Death School If you hit him with the wrong school, he will gain a massive 90% universal damage shield, making him nearly invincible. The Button Push: Immediately after Astraeus charges a symbol, the Symbol Runner must run to the corresponding physical symbol on the side of the arena and click on it (stand on the circle in front of it). This "pushes the button" and changes the arena's visual effects. More importantly, it's the trigger that allows the correct school hit to work properly. If you don't push the button, even the correct school hit might fail. Executing the Hit: The hitters should have been building a hit of the correct school (Myth, Life, or Death). The team should use Blades, Traps, and Feints on Astraeus as normal. Launch the hit. If you did it correctly, Astraeus will take full damage. Rinse and Repeat: After you successfully hit him, the mechanic resets. Astraeus will charge a new symbol (it can be the same one twice in a row). Repeat the process: Identify the symbol -> Runner pushes the button -> Team hits with the correct school. Team Composition & Tips Ideal Team: 1 Button Runner, 1 Healer/Support, 2 Hitters (preferably covering Myth, Life, and Death between them). The Runner's Job: Must have high health and good resistance. They will be taking constant minor damage from the symbols. A Life wizard with good heals is perfect for this role. Hitters: It's best if your hitters have mastery amulets or secondary decks to cast hits from all three required schools (Myth, Life, Death). A Death wizard can be both a hitter and a great support with juju spam. Critical Tip: COMMUNICATE. Call out which symbol is charged as soon as you see it. The runner should confirm they are pushing the button. Cheat Alert: Astraeus will cast a powerful "Cosmic Burst" if the fight goes on too long. The goal is to kill him in 3-4 correct hits, so don't drag the fight out. Minions: He will summon minions. It's often wise to use an AoE (Area of Effect) hit of the correct school to clear them while damaging the boss, or have someone with a multi-hit spell take care of them. Common Mistakes to Avoid Hitting with the wrong school. This is the #1 cause of failure. Double-check! Forgetting to push the button. The hit won't work correctly without it. The runner dying. Keep your runner healed! If they die, someone else must immediately take over the role. Not having the right school hits. Make sure your team's decks are prepared before entering. In summary: See Symbol -> Call it Out -> Runner Pushes Button -> Team Hits with Corresponding School (Myth/Yellow, Life/Red, Death/Blue). Good luck, Wizard! This fight is all about teamwork and precision. Once you get the rhythm down, you'll defeat the Cosmic Weaver

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
