wizard101 fishing guide
Of course! Here is a comprehensive guide to Fishing in Wizard101, covering everything from getting started to catching the rarest fish. How to Start Fishing Level Requirement: You must be at least Level 10. Get a Fishing Rod: Visit Fishing Vendor Finnigan in the Commons (Wizard City). He sells the basic rod for 1,000 gold. You can also buy better rods from him or get them as rewards. Learn the Spell: After getting a rod, Finnigan will give you the "Fish" spell. It will appear in your "Attractions" tab of your spell deck. Find a Body of Water: Look for sparkling ripples in any waterponds, lakes, moats, fountains, even aquariums inside houses! The Fishing Interface & Process Cast Your Line: Click on the sparkling water with your Fish spell equipped. The Mini-Game: A wheel appears with colored fish silhouettes. Green: Easy to catch. Reel in when the arrow is in the green zone. Yellow: Medium difficulty. Smaller "sweet spot." Red: Hard to catch. Very small sweet spot, often requires specific bait or a good rod. Reeling: Press and hold the mouse button to fill the meter on the right. Release when the arrow is in the colored zone. Do this successfully 3 times to catch the fish. Failure: If you miss the zone, the fish gets a "strike." Three strikes and it gets away. Bait - The Most Important Mechanic You MUST use bait to catch most fish. Bait is consumed with each cast. Basic Bait: Sold by Finnigan (Mackerel, Shrimp, etc.). Catches common fish. Special Bait: This is key for rare fish. You get it by catching and then "Dismantling" other fish in your backpack. Rank 1 Fish (Common) -> Basic Bait Rank 2 Fish (Uncommon) -> Winnow Bait (Attracts a specific school of fish) Rank 3 Fish (Rare) -> Mythological Bait (Attracts a specific type, e.g., "Balance Fish") Rank 4+ Fish (Ultra-Rare, etc.) -> Power Bait (Attracts specific, prized fish) Rule of Thumb: Use bait made from a fish to catch other fish in the same location or of the same school/species. Fish Ranks & Energy Ranks (1-5): Higher rank fish are harder to catch and yield better rewards. Energy Cost: Fishing costs 5 Energy per cast, regardless of success. Manage your energy with snacks, gear, or pets with Energy talents. Best Fishing Rods Basic Rod: Fine for starting. Buyable Upgrades: Finnigan sells the Crow's Nest Rod (better chance) and Bundle Rods (often best, e.g., Eternal Rod). Crafted Rods: The Arcanum Fishing Rod (crafted in the Arcanum) is excellent and gives a chance to not consume bait. Best in Game: Polarian Ship of Fools Rod (from a Bundle) or the Spiral Cup Rod (from a special code). Why Fish? - Rewards & Benefits Housing Items: Dismantling fish has a high chance to give unique furniture, rugs, mounts (like the Swordfish!), and aquarium decorations. Training Points: Catch ALL fish in a specific world (e.g., Wizard City, Krokotopia) to earn a Training Point from Burke in the Commons. Gold & Reagents: Dismantling fish gives gold and common reagents. Badges & Accomplishment: Many badges for catching numbers of fish or specific sets. Gardening: Some fish are "Pixie" type and can be placed in gardens like plants. Pro Tips & Strategies Target Farming: Want a specific fish? Use Winnow or Mythological Bait made from fish caught in the same pond. The game heavily favors "like attracts like." Check the Codex: Your Fishing Codex (spellbook tab) tracks fish you've caught and hints at what bait they like. Energy Efficiency: Fish during a "Free Fishing" membership benefit (no energy cost) or use energy elixirs. Popular Fishing Spots: Aeriel Shores (Zafaria): For the rare Terror Watt (electric eel mount). House Tours: Visit castles with large ponds or aquariums to find different fish schools. Polaris Ice Holes: Unique fish types. Patience with Reds: Red-ring fish often require the correct Power Bait or a very high-level rod. Don't waste energy guessing. Key NPCs Finnigan: Commons, Wizard City. Sells rods, basic bait, teaches fishing. Burke: Commons, Wizard City. Gives Training Point quests for completing a world's fish guide. Fletcher (Blue Anchor Bay, Marleybone): Sends you on fishing quests to unlock advanced bait types. Quick Start Checklist: Reach Level 10. Buy a rod from Finnigan in the Commons. Get the Fish spell from him. Buy some Mackerel Bait. Go to a quiet pond in Wizard City (like in Golem Court) and start casting! Catch fish, dismantle them in your backpack to get better bait, and use that new bait to catch rarer fish. Fishing is a deep and rewarding side activity. The loop of Catch -> Dismantle for Bait -> Catch Better Fish is the core of the system. Good luck, and may your reel be true

Venture into the depths of Azeroth itself in this groundbreaking expansion. Face new threats emerging from the planet's core, explore mysterious underground realms, and uncover secrets that will reshape your understanding of the Warcraft universe forever.
The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
