Excellent question! In Wizard101, "best" spells depend heavily on your school, playstyle (PvE vs. PvP), and role (hitter, support, etc.). However, some spells are universally powerful or game-changing. Heres a breakdown of the best spells by category and school. Universal "Best" Spells (All Schools Should Consider) These are mostly learned from other schools via training points or gear. Feint (Death, 48 TP): The single most important spell in PvE. A -70% trap on the enemy is irreplaceable for boss fights and one-hit kills. Mandatory for every wizard. Elemental/Spiritual Blades & Traps (Niles/Krokopatra): The 40% versions from the Balance tree in Krokotopia. Huge damage boosters. Enchants (Sun School): Especially Epic (starting at level 50) and the later Raging Bull (AoE) / Single-Enchant variants. Turning your 500-damage hit into a 700-damage hit is fundamental. Auras (Star School): Frenzy (massive damage boost at cost of self-trap) for hitters, Fortify for tanks/supports. Shadow Shrike (Shadow School): The +50% Piercing and +20% Damage aura is the go-to for breaking through high-block bosses in late-game PvE and PvP. Best Spells By School (PvE Focus) These are the standout spells unique to each school. Fire Rain of Fire (AoE, 7 pips): A classic, reliable damage-over-time (DoT) AoE. Meteor Strike (AoE, 4 pips): The best early-game AoE, fast and efficient. Frenzy + Fire Dragon (Single Target): The quintessential Fire combo for massive single-target damage. Scorching Scimitars (AoE, 7 pips): The newer, powerful AoE that also leaves a Fire trap. Ice Snowball Barrage (AoE, 7 pips): Ice's best hitting AoE, especially when enchanted. Angelic Snowman (AoE, 8 pips): Heals you while dealing damageincredibly sustainable. Frost Giant / Lord of Winter (Single Target): Huge single-target hits with useful side effects (stun, remove charms). Tower Shield (Trained): The best defensive shield in the game, used by everyone. Storm Tempest (AoE, 4-8 pips): The most iconic and pip-efficient AoE in the game. The core of Storm's identity. Storm Lord (AoE, 7 pips): Hits hard and stuns, invaluable for controlling fights. Sirens (Single Target, 8 pips): Massive damage, removes two positive charms, and stun blocks. Insane Bolt (PvP Legend): High-risk, high-reward. Can win or lose a duel in one cast. Myth Frog / Humongofrog (AoE, 4 pips): Another fantastic early-game AoE. Orthrus (Single Target, 7 pips): A double hit that's excellent for breaking through shields. Mystic Colossus (AoE, 8 pips): A powerful, straightforward AoE. Basilisk / Medusa: The school's signature minion-summoning and stun spells. Death Scarecrow (AoE, 7 pips): The spell that defines Death. A powerful AoE that heals you for 50% of the damage dealt. Unmatched sustainability. Deer Knight / Ship of Fools: Spell-version AoEs (from lore or crafting) that are essential before level 48. Wraith (Single Target, 6 pips): The classic single-target heal-hit. Bad Juju (PvP & Support King): A -90% universal trap that costs the caster health. The ultimate support/debuff spell. Life Forest Lord (AoE, 8 pips): Life's only native AoE for a long time, and a good one. Gnomes / Goat Monk (Single Target): Powerful, high-damage single-target hits. Rebirth / Pigsie (Massive Heals): Rebirth is the quintessential big team heal. Pigsie (a lore spell) is a powerful 4-pip AoE heal. Satyr (Trained, 4 pips): The most efficient single-target heal, trained by almost every school. Balance Judgment (Single Target, X pips): The iconic flexible hit. Can be used with any pip count for the perfect finishing blow. Sandstorm (AoE, 4 pips): A fantastic, early pip-efficient AoE. Nested Fury / Supernova (AoE, 8 pips): Powerful late-game AoEs with useful secondary effects (removing shields/wards). Ra / Power Nova (Blading Tools): The only school that can blade anyone, making them the ultimate support. Best Spells for Specific Roles Best Support Spell: Feint (Death). Honorable mention: Bad Juju (Death), Elemental/Spirit Blades (Balance). Best Healing Spell: Rebirth (Life) for burst, Pigsie (Lore) for efficiency. Most Pip-Efficient AoE: Tempest (Storm). Most Sustainable AoE: Scarecrow (Death). Best "Oh No" Button: Ice Wyvern (Shadow, Ice) - A huge heal + taunt. Guardian Angel (Life) is also a contender. Final Tips: Feint is Non-Negotiable: Train it as soon as you can (level 26+). Your School's 4-Pip AoE is Key: It will be your bread and butter for mob fights for dozens of levels (Meteor, Frog, Tempest, Sandstorm, etc.). Enchants are a Power Spike: At level 50, getting Epic from the Sun School in Zafaria doubles your damage output. PvP is a Different World: Spells like Stun Blocks, Shields, Dispels, and Low-Pip Utility become much more important than raw damage. The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
