Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

Ultima Online (UO) and Ultima Online: Outlands are both based on the classic MMORPG Ultima Online, but they cater to different player preferences. Heres a detailed comparison: Origins & Development Ultima Online (Official Servers): - The original MMORPG launched in 1997 by Origin Systems (now owned by Broadsword/EA). - Features multiple official shards (servers) with varying rulesets (e.g., Atlantic, Great Lakes). - Still receives occasional updates but remains largely true to its late-1990s/early-2000s design. Ultima Online: Outlands: - A custom free shard (player-run server) launched in 2018, built on the RunUO emulator. - Completely overhauled map, skills, dungeons, and mechanics while retaining UOs core feel. - Developed by former UO players and modders, with active updates and a thriving community. Gameplay & Mechanics Feature Ultima Online (Official) Ultima Online: Outlands Map Original Britannia (Trammel/Felucca) Custom "Outlands" continent (no Trammel) PvP Split between Trammel (safe) & Felucca (PvP) Full-loot PvP everywhere (with anti-griefing systems) Skill System Classic 7x GM cap, no major changes Expanded skills (e.g., Bushido, Necromancy reworked), 120 skill cap Housing Limited space, old placement system Dynamic housing with new decor options & land scarcity Dungeons Original dungeons (some revamped) All-new dungeons with modern mechanics Economy Inflation-heavy (due to age) Fresh economy, gold sinks, player-driven Custom Content Minimal (official updates rare) Extensive (new bosses, events, QoL improvements) Community & Population Official UO: - Smaller, dedicated player base (mostly veterans). - Some servers are more active (e.g., Atlantic for PvM, Siege Perilous for hardcore). - Slower-paced, nostalgic feel. Outlands: - 2,0003,000+ concurrent players (one of the most populated UO experiences). - Very active PvP, PvM, and roleplaying scenes. - Discord-driven community with frequent events. Which One Should You Play? Play Official UO if - You want the authentic 1997 experience (with some QoL tweaks). - You prefer a mix of PvE and optional PvP (Trammel vs. Felucca). - You enjoy a slower, more nostalgic MMO. Play Outlands if - You want a modernized UO with fresh content and active development. - You enjoy full-loot PvP with balanced anti-griefing measures. - You prefer a larger, more engaged community. Final Verdict Outlands is generally considered the better choice for most players due to its active development, custom content, and strong population. Official UO is best for purists or those seeking a classic, low-pressure experience. Both are free to try (Outlands is entirely free; official UO has a free trial). If you love Ultima Online but want something new, Outlands is the clear winner.

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
