Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

Ultima Online vs. Outlands: A Comparison Ultima Online (UO) is the original MMORPG released in 1997, known for its open-ended sandbox gameplay, deep skill system, and player-driven economy. Outlands is a popular free shard (private server) that modernizes UO with custom content while staying true to its core principles. Heres a breakdown of key differences: Gameplay & Mechanics Official UO (Broadsword Servers - Atlantic, etc.) - Classic UO mechanics with expansions like Stygian Abyss and High Seas. - Slower-paced, more traditional PvM (PvE) and PvP. - Housing system with limited space (especially on crowded servers like Atlantic). - Subscription-based (optional free-to-play with restrictions). Outlands - Custom map (not Britannia) with new dungeons, zones, and mechanics. - Overhauled skill system (e.g., no skill cap, new abilities). - More fast-paced PvP and PvM with modernized balance. - Improved housing system with instanced placements. - Free-to-play with optional donations. Population & Community Official UO - Smaller but dedicated player base (Atlantic is the most active). - Mostly veteran players; harder for new players to integrate. Outlands - Larger, more active population (often 2,000+ online). - Strong new-player support (tutorials, guilds, QoL improvements). - More PvP-focused but still has robust PvM content. PvP & PvM (Player vs. Player vs. Environment) Official UO - Classic faction warfare, Felucca ruleset (full loot PvP optional). - Older PvM content with less variety. Outlands - Revamped PvP with territory control (Strongholds), balanced templates. - Extensive PvM with custom bosses, loot systems, and progression. Economy & Crafting Official UO - Established but inflated economy (lots of duped/hoarded items). - Classic crafting system with limited updates. Outlands - More dynamic economy (no duping, fresh start). - Expanded crafting with new resources and itemization. Graphics & Performance Both use the same 2D/3D client, but Outlands has: - Custom art, better performance optimizations. - Modern QoL features (hotkeys, UI improvements). Which One Should You Play? Play Official UO if: - You want the original experience with nostalgia. - You prefer a slower-paced, classic MMO feel. - You dont mind a smaller, older community. Play Outlands if: - You want a modernized UO with fresh content. - You enjoy active PvP and a thriving economy. - You prefer a free-to-play model with regular updates. Final Verdict Outlands is generally considered the best way to experience UO in 2024 due to its active development and player base. However, official UO still has its charm for purists. Would you like a deeper dive into any specific aspect?

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
