Ultima Online (UO), released in 1997 by Origin Systems, is set in the rich fantasy world of Britannia, originally established in the single-player Ultima RPG series. Heres a concise overview of its lore: The World of Britannia Britannia is a land shaped by virtue, magic, and divine intervention. It was ruled by Lord British (Avatars alter ego), a benevolent monarch who upheld the Eight Virtues (Honesty, Compassion, Valor, Justice, Honor, Sacrifice, Spirituality, and Humility) derived from the Three Principles (Truth, Love, and Courage). Key Historical Events The Age of Darkness (Ultima IIII): - The wizard Mondain created the Gem of Immortality, plunging Britannia into chaos until the Avatar (the player in single-player games) defeated him. - Exodus, Mondains creation, later threatened the land. The Age of Enlightenment (Ultima IVVI): - The Avatar proved their worth by mastering the Virtues. - The Gargoyle race, once enemies, became allies after a war caused by misunderstanding. The Age of Armageddon (Ultima VIIIX): - The Guardian, a cosmic tyrant, sought to corrupt Britannia. - Lord Blackthorn, a corrupted regent, imposed twisted interpretations of the Virtues. Ultima Onlines Setting UO takes place after Ultima VII but diverges from later series events (like Ultima IX). Key lore points: The Shattered World: A cataclysm (possibly tied to the Guardian) fractured the lands, creating Felucca (chaotic, PvP-heavy) and Trammel (peaceful, PvE-focused) mirror realms. Factions & Conflicts: - The Shadowlords (demonic entities of Hatred, Falsehood, and Cowardice) sow discord. - The Ophidian (snake-men) and Orc invasions threaten Britannia. - The Gargoyle kingdom of Ter Mur plays a role in later expansions. Expansions & Lore Additions: - The Second Age: Introduces the lost Isle of the Avatar. - Renaissance: Adds the Felucca/Trammel split. - Stygian Abyss: Expands on Gargoyle society and the Void (a cosmic threat). Notable Figures Lord British: The immortal ruler, embodying wisdom (until his mysterious disappearance in later lore). Lord Blackthorn: Once just, now a tyrannical figure enforcing distorted Virtues. Dupre: A paladin companion of the Avatar. Minax: A time-manipulating sorceress (from Ultima II). Themes & Legacy UOs lore blends high fantasy with moral philosophy, emphasizing player-driven stories. Its open-ended design allowed for emergent narratives, making it a pioneer in MMORPG storytelling. Would you like details on a specific faction, expansion, or event?

The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
