Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

Both Throne and Liberty (TNL) and Guild Wars 2 (GW2) are MMORPGs with distinct strengths and design philosophies. Heres a detailed comparison to help you decide which might suit you better: Gameplay & Combat Throne and Liberty - Action-Oriented Combat: Hybrid tab-targeting with action elements, dodging, and positioning matter. - Class Flexibility: Weapon-based skills (similar to Guild Wars 2), allowing builds to adapt via gear swaps. - Large-Scale PvP: Focus on siege battles, guild wars, and open-world territory control. - PvE: Dungeons, raids, and dynamic events, but less emphasis on horizontal progression. Guild Wars 2 - Fully Action Combat: Dodging, ground-targeted skills, and mobility are key. - Class Identity: Fixed professions with elite specializations, offering deep build diversity. - PvP Modes: Structured PvP (small teams), WvW (massive server vs. server battles), and open-world PvE. - PvE Focus: Dynamic events, world bosses, and horizontal progression (no gear treadmill). Verdict: GW2 has more fluid combat and better PvE variety, while TNL leans into large-scale PvP. Progression & Monetization Throne and Liberty - Vertical Progression: Gear upgrades and leveling are central (similar to Lost Ark). - Monetization: Likely pay-for-convenience (boosters, cosmetics) with a free-to-play model. - Endgame: Gear grinding, guild-based content, and competitive PvP. Guild Wars 2 - Horizontal Progression: Max level is easy to reach; endgame is about builds, cosmetics, and mastery. - Monetization: Buy-to-play (expansions), cash shop for cosmetics/convenience (no pay-to-win). - Endgame: Fashion Wars, legendary gear, fractals, raids, and living world updates. Verdict: GW2 is more casual-friendly with no gear treadmill; TNL may appeal to grinders. World & Exploration Throne and Liberty - Seamless Open World: Large zones with weather/terrain affecting combat (e.g., rain extinguishing fire spells). - Less Exploration Focus: More structured around guild conflicts and objectives. Guild Wars 2 - Living World: Maps change with events; jumping puzzles, hidden areas, and lore-rich zones. - Mounts: Best-in-class movement mechanics (gliding, skyscale, roller beetle). Verdict: GW2 wins for exploration; TNL focuses on strategic PvP interactions. Social & Guild Systems Throne and Liberty - Guild-Centric: Territory control, politics, and large-scale coordination are key. - PvP Focus: Guilds compete for resources and dominance. Guild Wars 2 - Casual-Friendly Guilds: Mostly for socializing, WvW, or raids. No mandatory guild activities. - Community Events: World bosses, meta-events, and festivals. Verdict: TNL is better for hardcore guild play; GW2 is more relaxed. Graphics & Performance Throne and Liberty - Unreal Engine 5: Stunning visuals, but may demand high-end PCs. - Art Style: Semi-realistic fantasy (similar to Black Desert). Guild Wars 2 - Aged but Charming: Vibrant, painterly style; runs well on older systems. Verdict: TNL for eye candy; GW2 for accessibility. Which Should You Play? Play Throne and Liberty if: - You love large-scale PvP and guild warfare. - You prefer vertical progression and gear grinding. - You want cutting-edge graphics. Play Guild Wars 2 if: - You prioritize exploration, story, and horizontal progression. - You dislike pay-to-win and gear treadmills. - You enjoy action combat with build diversity. Final Thoughts Guild Wars 2 is a polished, content-rich MMORPG with a loyal community, while Throne and Liberty is a newer, PvP-focused title with potential but unproven longevity. If you prefer PvE and casual play, GW2 is the safer choice. If you crave competitive guild battles and dont mind grinding, TNL could be worth trying. Would you like a deeper dive into any specific aspect?

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
