Throne and Liberty (T&L) and Guild Wars 2 (GW2) are both MMORPGs with distinct design philosophies, gameplay mechanics, and monetization models. Heres a detailed comparison: Gameplay & Combat Throne and Liberty - Action-Oriented Tab-Targeting: Hybrid combat with some action elements (e.g., dodging, positioning) but still relies on tab-targeting. - Large-Scale PvP & Sieges: Focuses on massive battles (200+ players) with castle sieges and territory control. - Dynamic World Events: Weather and environmental changes affect combat (e.g., rain buffing lightning spells). - Classless System: Players swap weapons to change playstyles (similar to Guild Wars 2 but more rigid). Guild Wars 2 - Action Combat: Free-aim dodging, movement-based attacks, and combo fields for dynamic fights. - Open-World Meta Events: Large-scale cooperative events that shape maps (e.g., world bosses, map-wide chains). - Structured PvP & WvW: Small-scale PvP (5v5) and large-scale World vs. World (server-based battles). - Elite Specializations: Deep class customization with unique subclasses (e.g., Revenant gaining a Legendary Dragon stance). Verdict: GW2 has more fluid combat, while T&L leans into strategic large-scale PvP. Progression & Customization Throne and Liberty - Vertical Progression: Gear upgrades matter significantly for endgame PvP/PvE. - Weapon-Based Skills: Skills are tied to weapons, allowing some flexibility. - Guild-Centric: Strong focus on guild activities for power progression. Guild Wars 2 - Horizontal Progression: No gear treadmill; Ascended/Legendary gear remains relevant forever. - Build Diversity: Traits, runes, sigils, and elite specs allow deep customization. - Solo & Group-Friendly: Easier for casual players to progress without mandatory guilds. Verdict: GW2 is better for casual players, while T&L rewards guild-focused grind. Monetization Throne and Liberty - Free-to-Play (F2P): No upfront cost. - Cash Shop: Cosmetics, convenience items, and potential pay-for-power concerns (depends on regional version). - Subscription (Optional): Boosts progression (similar to Lost Ark). Guild Wars 2 - Buy-to-Play (B2P): Base game is free; expansions must be purchased. - Gem Store: Cosmetic skins, QoL upgrades, and occasional boosts (no pay-to-win). - No Subscription: One-time purchases for content. Verdict: GW2 is more consumer-friendly; T&L may lean into aggressive monetization. World & Exploration Throne and Liberty - Seamless Open World: No loading zones, with day/night cycles affecting gameplay. - Territory Control: Guilds can conquer and tax regions. - Less Puzzle/Platforming: More combat-focused exploration. Guild Wars 2 - Living World: Expansions and Living World updates add story-driven maps. - Jumping Puzzles & Hidden Areas: Encourages exploration beyond combat. - Mount System: Best-in-class movement mechanics (e.g., Griffon, Skyscale). Verdict: GW2 excels in exploration; T&L is more PvP-driven. PvP Focus Throne and Liberty - Guild vs. Guild (GvG): Territory wars, castle sieges, and open-world PvP. - Faction-Based Conflict: Optional PvP in contested zones. Guild Wars 2 - World vs. World (WvW): Persistent server battles with keeps and supply lines. - Structured PvP: Balanced 5v5 matches with equalized gear. Verdict: T&L is more hardcore PvP; GW2 offers better small-scale PvP. Final Recommendation Play Guild Wars 2 if: - You prefer action combat, horizontal progression, and rich exploration. - You want a fair monetization model with no pay-to-win. - You enjoy both PvE and PvP without mandatory guild commitments. Play Throne and Liberty if: - You love large-scale guild warfare and territory control. - You enjoy vertical progression and gear-based power gains. - You dont mind potential monetization concerns (varies by region). Both games cater to different audiencesGW2 is more polished and casual-friendly, while T&L targets hardcore PvP and guild-focused players.

The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
