Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

Both Throne and Liberty (TNL) and Black Desert Online (BDO) are popular MMORPGs with distinct gameplay styles, mechanics, and monetization approaches. Heres a detailed comparison to help you decide which might suit you better: Gameplay & Combat Throne and Liberty - Tab-Target Hybrid: Mixes tab-targeting with action elements, similar to Guild Wars 2 or Lost Ark. - Strategic Combat: Emphasizes positioning, team synergy, and environmental interactions (e.g., weather effects). - Slower Pace: More methodical than BDO, with weightier animations. Black Desert Online - Full Action Combat: Combo-based, fast-paced, and highly skill-driven (like a fighting game). - Animation Canceling: Allows for fluid, high-APM gameplay. - Solo-Friendly: Grinding relies heavily on individual skill and gear. Verdict: Prefer flashy, reactive combat? BDO. Like tactical, group-focused play? TNL. Progression & Gear Throne and Liberty - Vertical Progression: Gear upgrades are linear but less RNG-heavy than BDO. - Shared Loot: Encourages group play with shared drops in dungeons/open world. - Less Grindy: Focuses on structured PvE/PvP content over endless mob farming. Black Desert Online - RNG Heavy: Gear enhancement can fail, downgrading items (infamous for frustration). - Endless Grind: Best-in-slot gear requires thousands of hours or swiping. - Lifeskills: Deep non-combat progression (fishing, trading, etc.) that rivals combat profits. Verdict: Hate RNG? TNL. Enjoy grinding/lifeskills? BDO. PvP & Endgame Throne and Liberty - Large-Scale PvP: Castle sieges, faction wars, and open-world conflicts (with opt-in systems). - PvE Focus: Dungeons, raids, and world bosses are central. - Limited Open PvP: Less forced than BDOs karma system. Black Desert Online - Open-World PvP: Flagging system allows ganking (with karma penalties). - Node Wars/GvG: Territory control with guild vs. guild battles. - Gear-Dependent: Skill matters, but gear gaps are punishing. Verdict: Prefer structured PvP? TNL. Like chaotic open-world fights? BDO. Graphics & World Throne and Liberty - Stylized Realism: High-fidelity but less detailed than BDO. - Dynamic World: Weather/terrain changes affect gameplay (e.g., rain buffs lightning spells). Black Desert Online - Best-in-Class Graphics: Unmatched character customization and world detail. - Static World: Beautiful but lacks environmental interactivity. Verdict: BDO wins visually, but TNL offers more gameplay-impacting world systems. Monetization Throne and Liberty - Buy-to-Play: Initial purchase (likely with expansions). - Cosmetic Cash Shop: Pay for convenience/visuals, but less P2W than BDO. Black Desert Online - Free-to-Play (with limits): Must buy inventory/weight expansions. - P2W Elements: Pets, costumes with stats, and loot boxes are near-mandatory for efficiency. Verdict: TNL is more consumer-friendly; BDO demands heavy investment. Which Should You Play? Choose Throne and Liberty if: - You prefer strategic combat and group content. - Hate RNG gear progression. - Want a balanced PvE/PvP mix. Choose Black Desert Online if: - You love action combat and grinding. - Dont mind P2W or heavy monetization. - Want deep lifeskills or solo play. Final Note: Throne and Liberty is newer (2023) and still evolving, while BDO (2014) has years of content but entrenched systems. Try both if possible!

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
