Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

Of course! You've hit on a fun and clever connection. While The Yardbirds (the legendary 1960s British blues-rock band) and Wizard101 (the popular family-friendly MMORPG) seem worlds apart, there are some delightful points of intersection, especially for fans of both music and gaming. Heres a breakdown of the connection and why it's a memorable topic for players: The Direct In-Game Reference: "Yardbirds" Pet This is the most direct link. In Wizard101, there is a pet called the "Yardbird." Appearance: It's a stylized, cartoonish blue bird with a tuft of feathers on its head, often seen standing in a patch of grass or flowers. How to Get It: The Yardbird has been available through various promotions, special bundles, and sometimes in the in-game Crown Shop or as a drop. Significance: For players who are also classic rock fans, having a pet named "Yardbird" is a neat Easter egg. Its a lighthearted homage to the band. The Historical "Yardbird" Connection The name itself has a shared origin that goes back further than the band: The Band's Name: The Yardbirds took their name from "yardbird," which was jazz slang for "chicken" (prison food) and a nickname for legendary saxophonist Charlie Parker ("Bird" or "Yardbird"). Wizard101's Take: The game uses the more literal, whimsical interpretationa bird you might find in your backyard, fitting its fantasy aesthetic. Its a simple, charming name for a pet. Musical Magic in Wizard101 While not directly about The Yardbirds, Wizard101 has a strong tradition of musical references, especially in its spell names and animations. Many spells are puns on classic rock bands and songs: Fire Spell: "Scorching Scimitars" (a play on "Smoking in the Boys Room" by Brownsville Station, later covered by Mötley Crüe). Storm Spell: "Lord of the Storm" (likely a nod to "Lord of the Thighs" by Aerosmith or general epic rock titling). Death Spell: "Call of Khrulhu" (a pun on "Call of Ktulu" by Metallica). Myth Spell: "Frogzilla" (a play on "Godzilla" by Blue Öyster Cult). Given this pattern, a "Yardbird" pet fits right in with the game's love for musical nods. Fan Culture & Shared Audience There's an overlap in the communities. Players who discover the Yardbird pet might be inspired to: Look up the classic rock band. Create a wizard themed around classic rock (using the Yardbird pet and rock-n-roll style gear). Share their knowledge, making the connection a fun piece of trivia within the Wizard101 community. How to Get Your Own Yardbird (in Wizard101): If you're playing and want one: Check the Crown Shop periodically under the "Pets" section. Look for special bundles or promotions that might include it. Ask other players if they know the current availabilitythe Wizard101 community is very helpful! In summary: The connection between The Yardbirds and Wizard101 is a charming, intentional Easter egg. The game's "Yardbird" pet is a whimsical nod to the same slang term that inspired the legendary band, perfectly fitting into Wizard101's world of musical puns and magical pets. Its a small detail that brings a smile to players who are in on the reference.

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
