In The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO), vampirism is a disease-turned-curse that grants players supernatural abilities while imposing certain weaknesses. Heres a breakdown of how vampirism works in ESO: Becoming a Vampire Infection: You can contract vampirism by: - Being bitten by a vampire enemy (e.g., Bloodfiends in specific zones like Bangkorai or The Rift). - Asking another player with the Vampire Lord skill line to turn you (for a fee, usually in guilds or zone chat). Quest: After infection, youll receive the quest "Scion of the Blood Matron" (for Lamae Bals bloodline). Vampire Skill Line Vampires have a unique skill line with active abilities, passives, and an ultimate. The skills focus on stealth, sustain, and blood magic. Key abilities include: Feed (Passive): Sneak and "feed" on NPCs to reduce your Vampire Stage (stages affect your powers/weaknesses). Mist Form (Ultimate): Turn into invulnerable mist. Blood for Blood: A strong attack that damages you slightly. Elusive Mist: Dash forward in mist form (great for mobility). Vampire Stages (14) Your stage increases passively over time or by using vampiric abilities. Higher stages grant stronger bonuses but also greater weaknesses: Stage 1: Minor bonuses, low penalties. Stage 4: Max bonuses (e.g., reduced ability costs, better stealth) but severe weaknesses: - Increased fire damage taken (up to +25% at Stage 4). - Reduced health recovery (up to -75% at Stage 4). Tip: Lower your stage by feeding to balance strengths/weaknesses. Pros and Cons of Vampirism Pros: Strong magicka-based abilities (ideal for Magicka DPS or Nightblades). Stealth bonuses (reduced detection radius). Reduced sprint cost (great for PvP or escaping). Unique aesthetic (glowing eyes, pale skin). Cons: Fire weakness (dangerous in fire-heavy content like trials/dungeons). Health recovery penalty (harder to sustain in combat). Feed mechanic can be tedious for some builds. Best Classes/Roles for Vampires Magicka Nightblade: Synergizes with stealth and sustain. Magicka Sorcerer: Benefits from reduced ability costs. PvP Builds: Mist Form is excellent for survivability. Curing Vampirism If you regret becoming a vampire: Visit a priest of Arkay in any major city (costs gold). Use a Cure Vampirism potion (purchased from other players). Greymoor & Vampire Updates The Greymoor Chapter (2020) expanded vampire lore with the Dark Heart of Skyrim storyline. Vampires got a visual rework (new animations, effects) and balance adjustments. Final Tips Feed regularly to manage stages in PvE/PvP. Pair with CP perks to mitigate fire weakness (e.g., Flame Defender). Use Mist Form defensively in emergencies. The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
