In The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO), skills are abilities that your character can use in combat, grouped into Skill Lines based on class, weapon, armor, guilds, and other sources. Heres a breakdown of how skills work: Skill Lines Skills are organized into different categories: A. Class Skill Lines Each of ESO's 7 classes has 3 unique skill lines (each with 5 active skills + 1 ultimate). Dragonknight: Ardent Flame, Draconic Power, Earthen Heart Sorcerer: Dark Magic, Daedric Summoning, Storm Calling Nightblade: Assassination, Shadow, Siphoning Templar: Aedric Spear, Dawns Wrath, Restoring Light Warden: Animal Companions, Green Balance, Winters Embrace Necromancer: Grave Lord, Bone Tyrant, Living Death Arcanist: Herald of the Tome, Soldier of Apocrypha, Curative Runeforms B. Weapon Skill Lines Unlocked by equipping a weapon type. Each has 5 active skills + 1 ultimate. Two-Handed (Greatsword, Battle Axe, Maul) One-Hand & Shield (Sword, Axe, Mace + Shield) Dual Wield (Two Swords/Axes/Daggers) Bow Destruction Staff (Fire, Frost, Lightning) Restoration Staff C. Armor Skill Lines Unlocked by wearing armor types (Light/Medium/Heavy). Passive bonuses only. D. Guild Skill Lines Fighters Guild (Anti-daedra/undead skills) Mages Guild (Spell-based abilities) Undaunted (Dungeon-focused passives) Thieves Guild & Dark Brotherhood (Stealth/assassination) Psijic Order (Time magic, unlocked via Summerset) E. World Skill Lines Alliance War (PvP skills from Cyrodiil) - Assault (e.g., "Rapid Maneuver") - Support (e.g., "Purge") Soul Magic (Main quest line) Legerdemain (Thieving/pickpocketing) Vampire/Werewolf (Transformation skill lines) F. Crafting Skill Lines Passives for professions like Blacksmithing, Alchemy, etc. How Skills Work Unlocking: Use a weapon/armor type or join a guild to unlock skill lines. Leveling: Gain XP in a skill line by using related abilities (e.g., casting Destruction Staff skills levels that line). Morphing: At rank IV, most skills can be morphed into 1 of 2 stronger versions (e.g., "Crystal Fragments" "Crystal Weapon" or "Crystal Blast"). Ultimates: High-cost, powerful abilities unlocked at rank V in a skill line. Skill Types Active Skills: Must be slotted on your action bar (up to 5 + 1 ultimate). Passive Skills: Always active once unlocked (e.g., "+10% Critical Chance with Swords"). Build Flexibility No fixed "class roles"mix skills from different lines to create builds like: - Magicka DPS: Destruction Staff + Class Skills - Stamina Tank: One-Hand & Shield + Class Defenses - Healer: Restoration Staff + Templar Skills Notable Skills Puncturing Strikes (Templar): Spammable spear attack. Surprise Attack (Nightblade): High-damage stealth opener. Elemental Blockade (Destruction Staff): AoE damage field. Resolving Vigor (Alliance War): Stamina-based heal. Tips Experiment: Respec skills anytime at shrines (for gold). Synergy: Combine skills (e.g., AoE + DoTs for damage). Passives Matter: They often provide huge bonuses. The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
