Patch 11.0.5 Now Live
Major balance changes to all classes, new dungeon difficulty, and holiday events are now available. Check out the full patch notes for details.
A solo MMORPG is a bit of a contradiction since MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games) are designed for large-scale multiplayer interaction. However, some MMORPGs offer a strong solo-friendly experience, allowing players to enjoy much of the content alone or with minimal forced group play. Here are some options: Best MMORPGs for Solo Players (2024) The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) - Strong solo questing with fully voiced NPCs. - No forced grouping for main storylines. - Optional dungeons & raids if you want multiplayer later. Guild Wars 2 - Dynamic open-world events scale to player count. - Personal storylines can be completed solo. - No gear treadmill, so solo play remains rewarding. Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) - Main story quests (MSQ) are mostly soloable (with AI companions for dungeons via Duty Support). - Strong narrative focus. - Some group content is required but can be done via matchmaking. Black Desert Online (BDO) - Action combat with deep solo grinding. - Life skills (fishing, trading, etc.) for solo players. - No mandatory group content (except high-end PvP). Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR) - Fully voiced, story-driven class campaigns. - Can play almost entirely solo with companion NPCs. - Some group content but optional. Lord of the Rings Online (LOTRO) - Great for Tolkien fans; most quests are soloable. - Epic story can be done alone. New World - Open-world PvE with strong crafting & gathering. - Solo-friendly questing, though some elite zones require groups. Closest to a "True Solo MMORPG" If you want an entirely offline/single-player experience that feels like an MMORPG, consider: Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (Remastered as Re-Reckoning) Dragon's Dogma 2 (Open-world RPG with party-based combat) Xenoblade Chronicles (Single-player JRPG with MMO-like systems) Final Thoughts Most modern MMORPGs cater to solo players, but if you want zero forced multiplayer, look for single-player RPGs with MMO mechanics. Would you like recommendations based on a specific playstyle (story, combat, exploration, etc.)?

The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
