"Porpoise" is a mining barge in EVE Online, introduced as part of the Lifeblood expansion in 2017. Its designed for solo or small-group mining operations, offering a balance between yield, mobility, and utility. Heres a breakdown of its key features: Porpoise Overview Role: Support Mining Barge (boosts mining yields and provides fleet support). Tech Level: Tech 1 Industrial Command Ship (can fit Industrial Core modules). Bonuses: - +5% mining yield per level of Mining Barge skill. - +5% shield resistance per level of Industrial Command Ships skill. - Can fit Mining Foreman Burst modules (boosts fleet mining yield, range, etc.). - Reduced ice and gas cloud harvesting duration. Key Features Industrial Core Module: - Toggles a mode that significantly boosts mining yield and resists but reduces mobility. - Excavator Industrial Core (T1): +25% mining yield, +50% shield resists, -75% speed. - Compressor Industrial Core (T1): Reduces compression time for ore/ice. Fleet Support: - Can fit Mining Foreman Burst modules to buff fleet mining lasers, harvesters, and range. - Provides ore compression (turns raw ore into compressed form for easier hauling). Mining Capabilities: - Can fit Mining Lasers, Ice Harvesters, or Gas Harvesters. - Decentralized cargo hold (ore goes directly into ship hold, unlike exhumers). Tank & Mobility: - Decent shield tank (especially under Industrial Core). - Aligns and warps faster than freighters but slower than barges like the Covetor. Comparison to Other Ships Vs. Orca (Tech 2 Command Ship): - Porpoise is smaller, cheaper, and easier to fly (lower skill requirements). - Orca has better boosts, more cargo, and stronger tank. Vs. Covetor/Procurer (Barges): - Porpoise provides fleet utility but has lower solo yield than dedicated barges. Common Uses Solo Mining: Decent yield with Industrial Core active. Small-Gang Mining: Provides boosts and compression for a mining fleet. Ice/Gas Mining: Faster harvesting than barges. Low-Sec/Null-Sec: More tank than barges, but riskier than an Orca. Fitting Example (Basic Solo Mining) Skill Requirements Mining Barge IV+ (for efficiency). Industrial Command Ships I+ (to fit). Mining Foreman (if using boosts). Conclusion The Porpoise is a versatile mining support ship, ideal for players who want a mix of solo mining and fleet utility without the cost of an Orca. Its a great stepping stone before moving into capital mining ships like the Rorqual. Would you like a specific fit for a certain role (e.g., null-sec mining, ice harvesting, etc.)?

The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
