Here is a comprehensive overview of the Pakistani drama "Parwarish" (پروش), which translates to "Upbringing" or "Nurturing." "Parwarish" is a classic family drama from Pakistan that originally aired on ARY Digital in 2014-2015. It is widely remembered for its heartfelt story, strong performances, and its focus on family values, sacrifice, and the unconditional love of parents. Quick Facts Drama Name: Parwarish Year: 2014-2015 Channel: ARY Digital Genre: Family Drama, Social Drama Director: Siraj-ul-Haq Writer: Asma Nabeel Producer: Abdullah Kadwani & Asad Qureshi (7th Sky Entertainment) Cast: Javed Sheikh, Samina Peerzada, Mawra Hocane, Shehzad Sheikh, Azfar Rehman, Shazia Chishti, Hira Tareen Plot Summary The story revolves around Shah Jahan (Javed Sheikh), a devout and honest middle-class man who works as a security guard. He lives with his wife Sakina (Samina Peerzada), his two daughters, and his son Junaid (Shehzad Sheikh). Shah Jahan is the backbone of his family, and his entire world revolves around the "parwarish" (upbringing) of his children. His life takes a dramatic turn when his long-lost nephew, Azeem (Azfar Rehman), returns from London. Azeem is the son of Shah Jahan's wealthy, deceased brother. Azeem is modern, arrogant, and spoiled. He initially looks down upon Shah Jahan's humble lifestyle. The central conflict arises from a promise Shah Jahan made to his dying brother: to take care of Azeem and ensure he gets a proper "parwarish" (nurturing/upbringing) and guidance, even if it means disciplining him strictly. Shah Jahan takes this responsibility very seriously. Azeem, who is used to a life of luxury and no boundaries, clashes constantly with Shah Jahan's strict, principled, and religious way of life. The drama explores this clash of values. Key storylines include: The Clash of Generations: Shah Jahan's traditional, value-based upbringing vs. Azeem's modern, materialistic worldview. Family Dynamics: The drama beautifully portrays the sacrifices of parents, the bond between siblings (Junaid and his sisters, especially the elder one who has her own struggles), and the role of a mother (Sakina) as a peacemaker. Romance: There is a love story between Azeem and Shah Jahan's younger daughter, Zara (Mawra Hocane). Zara is a simple, educated, and principled girl who acts as a bridge between her father and Azeem. Redemption: The central theme is Azeem's gradual transformation. Through the unconditional love, patience, and strict yet fair discipline of Shah Jahan, Azeem learns respect, responsibility, and the true meaning of family. Social Class: The drama highlights the dignity of hard work and the stark contrast between the values of a simple, honest family and the often-hollow glamour of wealth. Main Cast and Characters Javed Sheikh as Shah Jahan: The patriarch. The soul of the drama. His powerful, emotional performance as a father who is strict but deeply loving is unforgettable. Samina Peerzada as Sakina: The mother. The embodiment of patience, love, and sacrifice. She holds the family together. Mawra Hocane as Zara: The young, modern but grounded daughter. Mawra's portrayal of a loving daughter caught between her father and her love for Azeem earned her immense praise. Azfar Rehman as Azeem: The anti-hero who undergoes a transformation. He plays the arrogant, rebellious nephew who eventually learns his lesson. Shehzad Sheikh as Junaid: The responsible, hardworking son who is the perfect example of his father's upbringing. Shazia Chishti as Guli: The comedic relief and the family's loyal maid/motherly figure. Hira Tareen as Fariha: A key character who adds to the family's challenges. Why "Parwarish" Became a Hit Relatable Family Values: Unlike many dramas focused on villains and melodrama, "Parwarish" was a heartwarming, positive story about a family that genuinely loves each other. It resonated deeply with Pakistani audiences. Powerful Performances: The casting was perfect. Javed Sheikh and Samina Peerzada delivered career-defining performances. Mawra Hocane's innocent charm and Azfar Rehman's evolution were also highly appreciated. No Toxic Villains: The drama didn't rely on a "negative character" or a "saas-bahu" conflict. The conflict was internal (within the family) and about values, which made it more realistic. Emotional Depth: The hallmark of the drama is its ability to make the audience cry. Scenes of Shah Jahan's sacrifices, his prayers for his children, and the emotional confrontations are legendary. Strong Message: It promoted respect for parents, the importance of education and hard work, and the idea that true wealth is in character, not money. Where to Watch Official Source: You can find most episodes on the ARY Digital official YouTube channel and their app. Streaming: It is also available on various Pakistani drama streaming platforms. Verdict "Parwarish" is a must-watch for anyone who loves classic, heart-touching family dramas. It is a beautiful, emotional, and inspiring story about the sacred bond between parents and children and the timeless struggle between tradition and modernity. If you are looking for a drama that will make you laugh, cry, and appreciate your family, Parwarish is an excellent choice. It remains a beloved classic in Pakistani television history.

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
