Here is a clear and comprehensive overview of the current legal status of online casinos in Wisconsin. The Short Answer No, real-money online casinos are not legal in Wisconsin. There are no licensed, regulated online casinos (sites where you can play slots, blackjack, roulette, etc. for real money) operating legally within the state. Any website that appears to offer these services to Wisconsin residents is operating illegally and without consumer protections. The Legal Landscape in Detail What IS Legal in Wisconsin: Tribal Casinos & Retail Sportsbooks: Wisconsin has a strong tribal gaming compact system. There are 11 federally recognized tribes operating 23 land-based casinos and several off-reservation retail sportsbooks. These are the only legal places to gamble for real money in the state. - Examples: Oneida Casino (Green Bay), Potawatomi Casino (Milwaukee), Ho-Chunk Gaming (multiple locations). - Retail Sportsbooks: You can bet on sports in person at tribal casinos that have chosen to offer it. Tribal Online Sports Betting (Limited): This is a key nuance. Some tribes in Wisconsin have launched online sports betting apps. However, these are tied to their physical locations. For example, the Oneida Nation's app only works when you are on or near their reservation land. The Potawatomi Casino & Sportsbook app only works in Milwaukee County. It is not a statewide online sports betting option. The State Lottery: The Wisconsin Lottery is legal and offers online ticket purchasing for some draw games (like Mega Millions and Powerball) through its official website and app. This is a government-run monopoly and is not an online casino. Social & Sweepstakes Casinos: These are the closest legal alternative to online casinos. They operate under a different legal framework (sweepstakes law) and do not require you to gamble with real money directly. - How they work: You buy "coins" or "gold coins" for fun play. You are also given "sweeps coins" for free with purchases or through promotions. You can play slots and table games with these sweeps coins, and if you win, you can redeem the sweeps coins for real cash prizes. - Examples: Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots, Global Poker. - Are they legal? Yes, they are considered legal in Wisconsin because no purchase is necessary to play for real prizes (you can get free sweeps coins via mail-in requests). However, they operate in a gray area and are not regulated by the state's gaming authorities. What is ILLEGAL in Wisconsin: Unlicensed Online Casinos: Any site that accepts real-money deposits for casino games like slots, blackjack, roulette, or video poker from Wisconsin residents is operating illegally. The state has not authorized any entity to offer this. Online Poker (for real money): There are no legal, regulated online poker rooms in Wisconsin. The "Three Types" of Gambling Sites You'll Find in WI Type Legality in Wisconsin Regulation Examples : : : : Real-Money Online Casinos Illegal None (unlicensed) Any site not affiliated with a WI tribe Social / Sweepstakes Casinos Legal Sweepstakes laws (not gaming laws) Chumba, LuckyLand, Global Poker Online Sportsbooks Limited / Geo-Fenced Tribal Gaming Compacts Oneida, Potawatomi (location-based only) The Future of Online Casinos in Wisconsin The path to legalizing online casinos in Wisconsin is complex, but the main hurdles are: The Tribal-State Compacts: The tribes have a strong monopoly on casino-style gaming. Any legalization of online casinos for non-tribal entities (like DraftKings or FanDuel) would require renegotiating these compacts. The tribes would likely demand a significant share of the revenue or exclusive rights. Political Will: There has been some discussion about legalizing statewide online sports betting, which is seen as a first step. However, full-scale online casinos (iGaming) have not been a major priority for the state legislature or the governor. Governor Evers' Position: Governor Tony Evers has included online sports betting in his state budget proposals, but it has been removed by the Republican-controlled legislature. His stance on full online casinos is less clear, but it's tied to the tribal negotiations. Key Recommendations for Wisconsin Residents Do NOT use unlicensed offshore casinos. These sites have no consumer protections, no recourse if they don't pay, and are operating illegally. Try Sweepstakes Casinos if you want to play slots and table games online for a chance to win real cash prizes. This is the safest and most legal way to do so from home. Use the Tribal Sportsbooks if you are in a location where they are available (e.g., near a tribal casino or in Milwaukee County). Visit a Land-Based Casino for the full, legal, and regulated real-money casino experience. Always check for a ".wi.gov" or "gov" website for the official state lottery if you want to buy lottery tickets online. Summary: There is no legal way to play at a real-money online casino in Wisconsin from your home. The options are limited to social/sweepstakes sites, in-person tribal casinos, and location-restricted tribal sports betting apps.

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
