Here is a comprehensive and responsible guide regarding online casinos for real money in New York. Disclaimer: Gambling involves financial risk. Only play with money you can afford to lose. This information is for educational purposes and does not constitute an endorsement of gambling. Laws and regulations are subject to change. The Current State of Online Real Money Casinos in New York As of early 2024, online casinos offering real money slots, table games, and poker are not yet legal in New York State. While the state has legalized and regulated online sports betting (which is very popular), the bill to expand this to full-scale iGaming (online casinos) has not passed the state legislature. What IS Legal in New York (Real Money): In-Person Casinos: You can gamble at licensed brick-and-mortar casinos in the state (e.g., Resorts World, Empire City, Rivers, del Lago, etc.). Online Sports Betting: Apps like DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, and Caesars are legal and widely used for betting on sports. Social Casinos: Sites like Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots, and Global Poker use a "sweepstakes" model. You can buy virtual coins and redeem winnings for cash prizes. These operate legally in most states, including NY. Daily Fantasy Sports (DFS): Sites like DraftKings and FanDuel are legal in NY. What is NOT Legal: Real-money online slots, blackjack, roulette, or poker on your phone or computer for real money. What to Expect: The Push for Legalization There is a strong push from major casino operators (like MGM, Caesars, DraftKings, and FanDuel) to legalize online casinos in New York. They argue it will generate significant tax revenue for the state. However, several factors have stalled progress: Competing Interests: Existing brick-and-mortar casinos, particularly in upstate New York, are worried about losing customers to online platforms. Tribal Casino Concerns: The state's tribal gaming compacts need to be considered. Legislative Hurdles: It is a highly debated topic in Albany (the state capital). It will require a new bill to be introduced, passed by both the Assembly and Senate, and signed by the Governor. Prediction: Many industry experts believe that legalization is a matter of "when," not "if," but it could take several more years (potentially 2025 or later) before a bill is successfully passed. Why You Should AVOID Unlicensed Offshore Casinos Given that real-money online casinos are not legal in NY, you will find many websites that claim to accept New York players. These are almost always offshore, unregulated, and illegal to operate in the US. Risks of using offshore casinos: No Legal Recourse: If they refuse to pay you (which is common), you cannot file a complaint with the New York Gaming Commission. You have no legal protection. Unfair Games: You cannot verify that the games are fair or that the payout percentages (RTP) are accurate. Identity Theft: You are giving your personal and financial data to a company operating outside US law. Data breaches are a real risk. Payment Issues: Withdrawals can be delayed for weeks or months, or never processed. They often have high fees. Banking Problems: Many US banks will block transactions to these sites. You may also be in violation of your bank's terms of service. Safe Alternatives for Real Money Gambling in NY Until online casinos are legal, here are the only safe, legal, and regulated ways to gamble for real money in New York: Visit a Licensed Casino in Person: Go to one of the state's commercial or tribal casinos. You can play slots, table games, and poker in person. Use Legal Online Sportsbooks: If you are a sports fan, apps like DraftKings, FanDuel, BetMGM, Caesars, and PointsBet are fully legal and regulated in NY. They are safe to use. Try Social Casinos: Chumba Casino, LuckyLand Slots, and Global Poker are perfectly legal. You buy "virtual coins" to play, and you can redeem any "sweeps coins" you win for real cash prizes. This is a legitimate way to play online slots for cash prizes without the legal risks of an offshore casino. Wait for Legalization: The most responsible action is to wait for New York to legalize and regulate online casinos. This will ensure your money is safe, the games are fair, and you have consumer protection. How to Stay Informed Follow NY News: Keep an eye on news from Albany, particularly regarding the state budget and gambling bills. Check the NYS Gaming Commission Website: They are the regulatory body. Sign up for Alerts: Some gambling news sites (like PlayNY or Legal Sports Report) have specific trackers for New York iGaming legislation. Final Verdict You cannot currently play at a safe, legal, real-money online casino in New York. If you see a website claiming to be a "New York Online Casino," it is almost certainly an unlicensed offshore operator. Do not sign up for these sites. Instead, stick to legal in-person casinos, legal online sportsbooks, or social casinos. The best course of action is to wait for the state to legalize iGaming, which will provide a safe and regulated environment for all players.

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
