oldest rpg game
The title of the oldest RPG (Role-Playing Game) depends on how strictly you define the genre. Here are the key contenders: "Dungeons & Dragons" (1974) - Why? The tabletop RPG Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), created by Gary Gygax and Dave Arneson, is widely considered the first true RPG. It established core mechanics like character classes, levels, and dice-based combat. - Platform: Tabletop (pen-and-paper). "Dnd" (1975) - Why? A text-based computer game developed at Southern Illinois University, inspired by D&D. It featured dungeon crawling, turn-based combat, and character progression. - Platform: PLATO mainframe system. "pedit5" (19741975) - Why? Another early PLATO dungeon-crawler, sometimes argued to predate Dnd, but less documented. "Beneath Apple Manor" (1978) - Why? One of the earliest commercial computer RPGs, featuring procedural dungeons and permadeath. - Platform: Apple II, others. "Akalabeth: World of Doom" (1980) - Why? Created by Richard Garriott (later of Ultima fame), it blended dungeon crawling with overworld exploration. - Platform: Apple II. Honorable Mentions: "Moria" (1975) A roguelike precursor on PLATO. "Tunnels of Doom" (1982) Early home computer RPG with party mechanics. Conclusion: Tabletop: Dungeons & Dragons (1974) is the undisputed originator. Computer RPG: Dnd (1975) or pedit5 (197475) on PLATO, followed by Beneath Apple Manor (1978). Would you like details on a specific game?

The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
