Throne and Liberty - Developed by NCSoft (makers of Lineage, Guild Wars 2). - High-fantasy world with dynamic weather and environmental interactions (e.g., rain turning terrain into rivers). - More traditional Korean MMO aesthetics with large-scale faction battles. Combat & Gameplay New World: Aeternum - Action-based combat with dodging, aiming, and hitbox precision. - Classless systemplayers swap weapons to change roles (DPS, Tank, Healer). - Heavy focus on PvE dungeons, crafting, and open-world PvP (optional). Throne and Liberty - Tab-targeting with action elements (similar to Black Desert but less twitchy). - Shape-shifting mechanicsplayers can transform into creatures for traversal/combat. - Large-scale siege battles (50v50+) with destructible environments. PvP & PvE Focus New World: Aeternum - PvP: Optional faction wars, open-world conflicts, and instanced battlegrounds. - PvE: Expeditions (dungeons), raids, and world bosses. Throne and Liberty - PvP: Mandatory in endgame zones; guild vs. guild castle sieges. - PvE: Dungeons, world bosses, and dynamic events influenced by weather/day cycles. Monetization New World: Aeternum - Buy-to-play (4060) with optional cosmetic microtransactions. - No pay-to-win elements confirmed. Throne and Liberty - Free-to-play with cash shop (cosmetics, convenience items). - Potential pay-to-win concerns (common in Korean MMOs). Platform & Release New World: Aeternum - Releases October 15, 2024 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series XS. - Cross-play supported. Throne and Liberty - Released in Korea (2023), coming to West in late 2024 (PC, PS5, Xbox). - Cross-play/cross-progression confirmed. Which One Should You Choose? The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
