Here is a detailed overview of the Chinese drama "Love in the Clouds". Please note: There is more than one Chinese drama with this English title. The most prominent and well-known one is a 2023 historical romance, which is what this summary primarily covers. Primary Drama: Love in the Clouds (2023) - Historical Romance Chinese Title: (Yún Zhī Yǔ) - literally "Feather in the Clouds" or "Wings of the Cloud" Also Known As: My Journey to You Genre: Historical, Romance, Wuxia (martial arts), Suspense, Mystery Episodes: 24 Where to Watch: iQIYI (often with English subtitles) Quick Synopsis The story is set in a fictional ancient world where two opposing forces exist: the noble and legitimate Gong family, who protect the realm, and the treacherous assassin organization, Wufeng ("Wing"). The Gong family's heir, Gong Ziyu (played by Zhang Linghe), is considered weak and useless, the black sheep of the family. To infiltrate and destroy the Gong clan, Wufeng sends a group of female "brides" to be selected as his wife. Among them is the cold and skilled assassin, Yun Weishan (played by Esther Yu). The drama follows their complex relationship. Yun Weishan's mission is to kill Gong Ziyu, but as she gets to know him, she discovers he is much more than he appears. He is kind, gentle, and has hidden depths. A slow-burn romance develops between the assassin and her target, full of lies, secrets, and deadly betrayals. Key Characters Gong Ziyu (played by Zhang Linghe): The seemingly terminally ill and weak heir of the Gong family. He is an outcast in his own home, but possesses a sharp mind and a deeply kind and righteous heart. His character goes through a significant transformation. Yun Weishan (played by Esther Yu): A top-tier assassin from Wufeng, codename "Fog." She is highly skilled, intelligent, and emotionally detached due to her brutal training. Her mission is to kill Gong Ziyu, but she finds herself conflicted by his sincerity. Shangguan Qian (played by Lu Yuxiao): Another assassin sent as a "bride." She is a rival to Yun Weishan, cunning, ambitious, and from a different "hall" of Wufeng. Her character is a fan-favorite for her complex, morally grey nature and fierce survival instinct. Gong Shangjue (played by Cheng Lei): The powerful and serious younger brother of Gong Ziyu. He is the acting leader of the Gong family and deeply distrusts the new brides. He has a complicated relationship with Shangguan Qian. Gong Ziyu's Mother (played by Zeng Li): A protective and manipulative matriarch who is determined to keep her family safe. What Makes It Special? Stunning Visuals & Cinematography: This is the show's biggest selling point. Every frame is meticulously crafted with a dark, moody, and cinematic aesthetic. The costumes, sets, and color palette are breathtaking. Complex & Morally Grey Characters: Very few characters are purely good or evil. Everyone is driven by their own goals, secrets, and loyalties. The "villains" are often as compelling as the heroes. Slow-Burn, Forbidden Romance: The central romance is built on lies and a power imbalance. The tension comes from watching Yun Weishan's cold exterior slowly crack as she falls for the man she's supposed to kill. Twists and Turns: The plot is full of mysteries, betrayals, and hidden identities. You are kept guessing until the very end. Strong Female Relationships: While there is rivalry, the drama also explores complex dynamics and even unexpected alliances between the female assassins. Director's Style: The drama is directed by Gu Xiaozhi, a famous Chinese director known for his unique visual style and storytelling. Potential Drawbacks (Honest Opinion) Pacing: The first few episodes can be a bit slow as it establishes the complex world and characters. Ending: The ending is a major point of contention among fans. It is intentionally ambiguous and open to interpretation. Some love it for its artistic bravery, while others found it frustratingly incomplete. Focus on Secondary Couples: The secondary romance between Shangguan Qian and Gong Shangjue is incredibly popular and, for some viewers, became more compelling than the main couple. Conclusion "Love in the Clouds" (My Journey to You) is a must-watch if you are a fan of visually stunning dramas with a darker, more mature tone. It prioritizes aesthetic, atmosphere, and character-driven angst over a simple, happy romance. If you enjoy stories with morally grey characters, slow-burn tension, and a melancholic, mysterious vibe, this drama is for you. Other Drama with a Similar Title There is a less well-known, lower-budget Chinese drama also called "Love in the Clouds" (sometimes titled Love in the Clouds: A Love Letter from the Emperor). Year: 2022 Type: Short-form web drama (around 18 episodes, 10 mins each) Genre: Historical, Romance, Comedy Plot: A light-hearted story about a modern woman who travels back in time and gets entangled with a cold emperor. It is a completely different show from the 2023 hit. If you are looking for the one that went viral on social media, you are almost certainly looking for the 2023 My Journey to You.*

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
