Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

Both Lost Ark and Black Desert Online (BDO) are popular MMORPGs with distinct gameplay styles, monetization models, and strengths. Heres a detailed comparison to help you decide which might suit you better: Gameplay & Combat Lost Ark: - Top-down ARPG (like Diablo or Path of Exile) with fast-paced, skill-based combat. - Focuses on ability rotations, dodging mechanics, and boss fights. - Class diversity: 20+ classes with unique playstyles (e.g., Gunslinger, Bard, Berserker). - PvE-heavy: Raids, dungeons, and legion raids are the main endgame. - PvP: Equalized arena PvP (gear doesnt matter), but less emphasis than BDO. Black Desert Online: - Action combat with free-aim, combo-based mechanics (similar to a fighting game). - Sandbox gameplay: Lifeskilling (fishing, trading, farming), open-world PvP, and node wars. - Class diversity: 26+ classes with deep animation cancels and combos. - Gear-dependent PvP: Open-world PvP, siege wars, and node battles are major endgame activities. Winner? BDO if you prefer deep action combat and open-world PvP. Lost Ark if you enjoy structured PvE raids and isometric combat. Progression & Grinding Lost Ark: - Vertical progression: Gear upgrades via honing system (RNG-based, can be frustrating). - Daily/weekly lockouts: Encourages alts to farm materials. - Less grinding: Focus on raids/dungeons rather than mob farming. Black Desert Online: - Horizontal + Vertical progression: Infinite gear upgrades (enhancement system is notoriously RNG-heavy). - Grind-heavy: Endgame revolves around killing mobs for silver (currency) and rare drops. - Lifeskilling alternative: Can progress via non-combat activities. Winner? Lost Ark if you dislike endless grinding. BDO if you enjoy grinding or lifeskilling as a way of life. Graphics & World Lost Ark: - Stylized, colorful art (similar to League of Legends). - Instanced zones with loading screens between regions. - Less immersive open world but visually polished. Black Desert Online: - Stunning, realistic graphics (one of the best in MMOs). - Seamless open world with no loading screens. - More immersive world with dynamic weather and day/night cycles. Winner? BDO for visuals and open-world immersion. Lost Ark for a more arcade-like, polished aesthetic. Monetization (Cash Shop) Lost Ark: - Pay for convenience: Skins, pets, boosters, and roster expansions. - Can be P2W: Gold buying and gear progression shortcuts exist, but raids are skill-based. Black Desert Online: - Heavily P2W: Inventory/weight limits, costumes with stats, and pay-for-convenience items. - Premium subscription (Value Pack) almost mandatory for efficient play. Winner? Neither is fully "fair," but Lost Ark is slightly less aggressive. Community & Population Lost Ark: - More PvE-focused, active raiding community. - Region-locked (no global servers). Black Desert Online: - Strong PvP/sandbox community, guild-focused. - Global servers with cross-play (PC/Console). Winner? Depends on your focus (PvE vs. PvP). Final Verdict: Which Should You Play? Play Lost Ark if you: - Love isometric ARPG combat. - Prefer structured PvE raids over open-world PvP. - Want less grinding and more dungeon/party content. Play Black Desert Online if you: - Want deep action combat and open-world PvP. - Enjoy sandbox gameplay (lifeskilling, trading, guild wars). - Dont mind heavy grinding or monetization. Both are free-to-play, so trying both is the best way to decide! Would you like a recommendation based on your preferred playstyle?

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
