Black Desert Online on Linux Black Desert Online (BDO) is a popular MMORPG, but it doesn't have a native Linux version. However, you can run it on Linux using compatibility tools like Wine, Proton (Steam Play), or Lutris. Running BDO via Lutris (Recommended) Lutris simplifies running Windows games on Linux by providing pre-configured scripts. Steps: Install Lutris & Dependencies - On Ubuntu/Debian: - On Arch Linux: - On Fedora: Download the Lutris BDO Installer - Go to Lutris BDO Page and click Install. Follow the Setup Wizard - Lutris will download the necessary Wine version and configure the game. Launch & Play - After installation, run BDO from Lutris. Running BDO via Steam (Proton) If you own BDO on Steam, you can use Proton (Steam's Wine-based compatibility layer). Steps: Enable Steam Play for All Titles - Open Steam Settings Steam Play and check: - Enable Steam Play for supported titles - Enable Steam Play for all other titles - Select Proton Experimental (or latest version). Install BDO via Steam - Search for Black Desert Online in Steam and install it. Launch the Game - It should run via Proton automatically. Running BDO Manually with Wine If you prefer a manual setup: Steps: Install Wine & DXVK Download the BDO Launcher - Get the installer from the official website. Install & Run via Wine - Follow the installer, then run the game with: Performance Tips Use DXVK (Vulkan) for better performance (enabled by default in Lutris/Proton). Enable ESync/FSync (PROTON_NO_ESYNC=0 or PROTON_NO_FSYNC=0). Consider using Gamemode (sudo apt install gamemode) for optimizations. Known Issues & Fixes Anti-Cheat (EasyAntiCheat/XIGNCODE3) - May not work in some cases (BDO sometimes blocks Linux users). - Try switching between Proton versions or using Lutris' workarounds. Crashing on Launch - Ensure you have Vulkan drivers installed (vulkan-utils on Ubuntu). - Disable Fullscreen Optimization in Winecfg. Conclusion Best Method: Lutris (easiest setup). Steam Users: Proton works well if BDO is in your library. Manual Setup: Possible but requires more tweaking. If you encounter issues, check the Lutris forums or ProtonDB for community fixes.

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
