This quest is the final quest of Khrysalis, Part 2. The Level 98 Quest: The Last Stand Quest Giver: Dyvim Whitehart (in the Silent Market, Khrysalis) Main Objective: Defeat Morganthe in her final form and end her threat once and for all. Detailed Walkthrough: The Setup: After completing the massive "Battery" quest in the Shadow Palace, Dyvim gives you "The Last Stand." You'll enter the Final Bastion, a dungeon representing the last line of defense against the Umbra Queen. The Dungeon - The Final Bastion: This is a solo instance (you must do it alone). It's not a long dungeon, but it's narratively intense. You'll fight your way through her remaining forces, culminating in a confrontation with her most loyal lieutenant, The Shadow Weaver. The Final Boss Battle - Morganthe: This is a two-phase fight. Phase 1: You fight Morganthe directly. She is a Myth school boss with around 12,000 health. She uses powerful Myth hits, Minotaurs, and Orthrus. This phase is straightforward; defeat her health bar. Phase 2 (The Shadow Form): After her first defeat, Morganthe merges with the Shadow Weavers, becoming a monstrous shadow creature with 24,000 health. This is the true final boss. Key Mechanics: She will cast a global -90% weakness on you every few rounds ("The umbra quakes..."). You MUST have a way to remove this (like a Cleanse Charm treasure card or a Pierce spell) or your hits will do negligible damage. She uses strong Shadow spells from all schools. The strategy is to set up a strong blade stack, cleanse her weakness, and then hit with your most powerful single-target spell (or a well-timed AoE if you've handled the weaknesses). The Aftermath & Reward: Upon her defeat, you witness the conclusion of the Spider War and the liberation of Khrysalis in a long, epic cutscene. Quest Reward: You receive a massive amount of XP (pushing you to or near Level 99), a powerful Level 98+ Wand (varies by school), and most importantly, the "Savior of the Spiral" badge. The Transition: Dyvim and Mellori then open a portal to Polaris in the Silent Market, officially beginning the Fourth Arc. Crucial Tips for Success: Preparing for Morganthe: Essential TC: Have Cleanse Charm treasure cards (removes one negative charm) in your side deck. This is the easiest way to handle her -90% weakness spam. Pierce spells also work. Deck Setup: Use a defensive setup. Have plenty of shields (especially Myth and universal), healing spells (like Satyr or Pixie), and your standard attack setup. Strategy: Don't rush. Blade up safely, manage the weakness, and strike when you have a clear shot. A feint or two can help immensely. General for Khrysalis Endgame: Your gear should be near best-in-slot for Level 90+. Popular options are: Waterworks/Mount Olympus gear (Level 60/30) is outdated here. Darkmoor Gear (Level 100) is your next goal, but you can't get it yet. Best Available: Crafted Wintertusk Hat/Robe/Boots (Level 56), House of Scales gear, or Avalon/Celestia/Zafaria crafted gear. The Sky Iron Hasta wand (from Mount Olympus) is still excellent. Athame/Ring: Look for good ones from Tartarus (Zeus/Senator gear) or vendors in Khrysalis. * Pet: A pet with a Blade (for your school) and/or a Heal (like Spell-Proof/Defy, Unicorn, Fairy) is extremely valuable. What Happens Next? Once you finish "The Last Stand" and the cutscenes: You are directed to the new portal in the Silent Market. The first quest of Polaris becomes available ("The Road to Polaris"). Polaris is a breath of fresh airshorter, more lighthearted, and with a new "CCG-inspired" spell system for bosses. Congratulations, Wizard! The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
