The map in The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) is massive, covering nearly all of Tamriel (the continent where the main Elder Scrolls games take place) and even some additional regions beyond. Heres a breakdown of its size: Geographic Coverage (As of 2024) All of Tamriels Provinces (though not all are fully explorable yet): - Fully Released: High Rock, Hammerfell, Morrowind, Skyrim, Cyrodiil, Elsweyr, Summerset Isles, Black Marsh (Shadowfen & Murkmire), Valenwood, and parts of the Daedric realms (like Coldharbour, Apocrypha, and the Deadlands). - Partially Released: Some areas (like central Hammerfell and parts of Black Marsh) are still being expanded. Beyond Tamriel: Some DLCs take players to places like Artaeum (Psijic Orders island), Clockwork City, and Oblivion realms. Comparison to Other Games Larger than Skyrim: A single ESO zone (e.g., Vvardenfell or Summerset) is often comparable in size to Skyrims map, and there are over 40 zones in total. Bigger than The Witcher 3 or Red Dead Redemption 2: While those games have large open worlds, ESOs combined map dwarfs them due to its sheer number of zones. Smaller than Daggerfall: The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall had a procedurally generated map of 161,000 km², but ESOs handcrafted zones feel more detailed and varied. Playable Area (Estimated) If all zones were stitched together, ESOs map would likely span hundreds of square kilometers, though exact measurements are tricky due to instancing and loading screens between zones. Cyrodiil (PvP Zone) alone is roughly 1.5x the size of Skyrims map, making it one of the largest PvP areas in any MMO. Ongoing Expansions New zones are added yearly (e.g., Necrom in 2023, Gold Road in 2024), so the map keeps growing. Future updates may fill in missing regions (like central Hammerfell or remaining Black Marsh). Conclusion ESOs map is one of the largest in gaming, especially for an MMO. While not a single seamless world like Daggerfall, the sheer variety and detail across its zones make it feel vast and immersive. If you enjoy exploration, ESO offers hundreds of hours of content just in its geography alone. Would you like a comparison to other MMOs like World of Warcraft or Guild Wars 2?

The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
