Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

Both Guild Wars 2 (GW2) and Black Desert Online (BDO) are popular MMORPGs, but they cater to different playstyles and preferences. Heres a detailed comparison to help you decide which might suit you better: Gameplay & Combat GW2: - Action-Combat Hybrid: More tab-targeting with dodging and movement-based mechanics. - Dynamic Events: Focus on open-world PvE events that scale with player participation. - Simpler Skill System: Limited skill slots (5 weapon skills + utility skills), but builds are flexible. - PvP & WvW: Structured PvP (small-scale) and World vs. World (large-scale siege battles). BDO: - Full Action Combat: Combo-based, animation-canceling, and highly skill-driven. - Grind-Heavy: Combat revolves around killing mobs efficiently for progression. - Complex Mechanics: Deep gear enhancement (RNG-based), lifeskills (crafting, trading, fishing), and node management. - Open-World PvP: GvG, node wars, and guild sieges dominate endgame. Verdict: Prefer fast-paced, combo-heavy combat? BDO. Like more casual, event-driven PvE? GW2. Progression & Monetization GW2: - Buy-to-Play (B2P): Base game is free; expansions are paid (no subscription). - Horizontal Progression: Gear doesnt become obsolete; focus on cosmetics and alt-friendly systems. - Fair Cash Shop: Mostly cosmetics/convenience (inventory/bank slots). BDO: - Buy-to-Play (B2P): Often on sale, but heavy monetization. - Vertical Progression: Gear upgrades are RNG-heavy (enhancement system can be frustrating). - Pay-for-Convenience: Inventory slots, pets (loot auto-collectors), and weight limits are almost mandatory. Verdict: GW2 is more casual-friendly; BDO demands time/money for efficiency. Graphics & World GW2: - Stylish, colorful art direction. - Large, diverse zones with rich lore (Tybris, Cantha, etc.). - Less graphically intensive (better for mid-range PCs). BDO: - Stunning, realistic graphics (one of the best in MMOs). - Seamless open world with no loading screens. - Demands high-end hardware for max settings. Verdict: BDO wins visually; GW2 is more accessible. Endgame Content GW2: - Raids, Fractals (dungeons), meta-events, and story instances. - Fashion Wars (cosmetic collection is a big draw). - No gear treadmillplay at your own pace. BDO: - Gear grind for PvP dominance. - Lifeskills (farming, trading, sailing) can be a full-time activity. - Node wars/GvG for competitive players. Verdict: Prefer PvP/sandbox? BDO. Like structured PvE? GW2. Community & Social Features GW2: - Cooperative (shared loot, rezzing strangers). - Guilds focus on social activities and WvW. BDO: - More competitive (open-world PvP, guild rivalries). - Strong economy driven by player trading. Verdict: GW2 is friendlier; BDO is more hardcore. Final Recommendation: Play GW2 if: You want a casual, story-driven MMO with no gear treadmill, or prefer PvE/WvW. Play BDO if: You love action combat, grinding, PvP, and dont mind heavy monetization. Bonus: Try both! GW2s base game is free, and BDO frequently goes on sale for 5.

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
