The Firebrand is an elite specialization for the Guardian in Guild Wars 2, introduced in the Path of Fire expansion. It focuses on wielding a tome (a magical book) to provide strong support, condition damage, or hybrid roles in both PvE and PvP/WvW. Key Features of the Firebrand: Weapon: Axe (main-hand) + Tome skills (replaces Virtues). Mechanic: Tomes Three unique skill sets (Tome of Justice, Tome of Resolve, Tome of Courage) that replace Virtues when activated. Role Flexibility: Can be built for healing (support), condition damage (burning), or hybrid tank/support. Strong Utility: Provides quickness, aegis, stability, and healing to allies. Firebrand Playstyles Heal Firebrand (Support) Role: Primary healer & boon support (especially quickness). Gear: Harriers, Minstrels (WvW), or Magis. Skills: - Tome of Resolve (healing, cleanse). - Tome of Courage (stability, aegis). - Mantras ("Receive the Light!", "Restoring Reprieve"). Traits: - Honor (Pure of Heart) - Virtues (Unscathed Contender) - Firebrand (Legendary Lore, Stalwart Speed, Loremaster) Condition Firebrand (DPS) Role: High burning damage (great for raids/fractals). Gear: Vipers or Sinister. Skills: - Tome of Justice (burn stacks). - "Mantra of Flame", "Mantra of Solace". Traits: - Radiance (Right-Hand Strength, Radiant Fire) - Zeal (Zealous Blade) - Firebrand (Quickfire, Legendary Lore, Loremaster) Hybrid (Quickness Firebrand) Role: Provides quickness while dealing decent damage. Gear: Celestial (WvW), Ritualists, or Seraphs. Skills: - Tome of Justice (damage) + Tome of Courage (support). - Mantras for boons. Traits: - Honor/Virtues for sustain - Firebrand (Quickfire, Stalwart Speed) Strengths & Weaknesses Strengths: Extremely versatile (can heal, DPS, or support). Strong burst healing & boon support. High burning damage in condi builds. Great in fractals, raids, and WvW zergs. Weaknesses: Tome skills have cooldowns (must manage wisely). Less personal mobility compared to Dragonhunter/Willbender. Can be squishy if built for full DPS. Best Weapons & Skills Main Weapon: Axe (main-hand) + Torch (off-hand) for condi, or Staff for support. Utility Skills: Mantras (Mantra of Potence for quickness, Mantra of Flame for DPS). Elite: "Mantra of Liberation" (stability) or "Feel My Wrath!" (quickness). Firebrand in Endgame Content Fractals/Raids: Meta as heal/quickness support or condi DPS. WvW: Core in zergs for stability, healing, and aegis. The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
