guild wars 1 locations in guild wars 2
In Guild Wars 2, many locations from the original Guild Wars 1 (Prophecies, Factions, Nightfall, and Eye of the North) have been revisited, often with significant changes due to the passage of 250 years in the lore. Here are some key locations from GW1 that appear in GW2: Tyria (Prophecies & Eye of the North) Ascalon (Ruins of Ascalon / Plains of Ashford) - The once-green kingdom is now a charr-dominated wasteland, scarred by the Searing and the Foefire. - Notable spots: Ascalon City (ruins), The Great Northern Wall (now a charr fort), Old Ascalon (Foefire-affected areas). Kryta (Queensdale, Gendarran Fields, etc.) - Now the heart of human civilization, ruled by Queen Jennah. - Notable spots: Lion's Arch (destroyed and rebuilt), Temple of the Ages (ruins), Beetletun (replacing the old Beetletun outpost). The Shiverpeaks (Wayfarer Foothills, Snowden Drifts, etc.) - Home to the norn, with some remnants of dwarven ruins. - Notable spots: Droknar's Forge (ruins), Thunderhead Keep (abandoned), Sorrow's Embrace (dungeon). The Maguuma Jungle (Silverwastes, Verdant Brink, etc.) - Changed drastically due to the rise of the Elder Dragon Mordremoth. - Notable spots: The Falls (where the Jungle Beyond was), Bloodstone Fen (expanded lore). The Crystal Desert (Path of Fire Expansion) - Now a central location in the Path of Fire expansion. - Notable spots: The Desolation (now corrupted by Kralkatorrik), Glint's Lair (revisited in Living World). Cantha (Factions) - End of Dragons Expansion After centuries of isolation, Cantha was reintroduced in Guild Wars 2: End of Dragons. Shing Jea Island Still a place of learning, but with modernized architecture. Kaineng City Now "New Kaineng City," a futuristic megacity. Echovald Forest Partially restored but still corrupted in places. The Jade Sea No longer fully petrified, with some liquid jade returning. Elona (Nightfall) - Path of Fire & Living World Elona has drastically changed under Palawa Joko's rule and later the Branded invasion. Vabbi Still a wealthy region, now under threat from Kralkatorrik. The Desolation Corrupted by branded and sulfurous wasteland. Istan Reintroduced in Living World Season 4 (Sun's Refuge, etc.). Kourna Now a war-torn region in Living World. Bonus: Eye of the North Locations Far Shiverpeaks Now part of the norn homeland (Bjora Marches in Icebrood Saga). Depths of Tyria Some areas like Rata Novus tie back to old Asuran lore. Key Differences: Many GW1 locations are ruined, buried, or transformed (e.g., Lion's Arch was destroyed and rebuilt). Some dungeons (like Sorrow's Embrace) revisit GW1 lore. The Scrying Pool in the Eye of the North guild hall lets players replay GW1 missions in GW2*. Would you like details on a specific location?

The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
