gaming laptop cheap but good
This is the holy grail of laptop shopping. "Cheap" usually means under 1,000, and "Good" means you can actually play modern games without wanting to throw the laptop out the window. Here is the honest truth: You cannot get a "good" gaming laptop for under 600. At that price, you will get poor performance, a terrible screen, and cheap build quality. The "sweet spot" for cheap but good is 750 to 1,100. Here are the best options right now, broken down by budget. The "Best Value" Champion (Currently Unbeatable) Lenovo LOQ 15 (AMD Variant) Why it's the best: This is the budget king. It uses last-gen but still very powerful AMD CPUs and full-powered RTX 4050 or 4060 GPUs. It doesn't cut corners on build quality like the cheap MSI or Acer models. Typical Price: 750 - 900 Specs to look for: - CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7640HS or Ryzen 7 7840HS - GPU: RTX 4050 (minimum) or RTX 4060 (ideal) - RAM: 16GB (8GB is too little) Catch: The base model has a 1080p 144Hz screen which is good, but the battery life is short (4 hours). It's a pure plug-in gaming machine. Where to buy: Best Buy, Lenovo.com (check for coupons), B&H Photo. The Budget Runner-Up (Almost as good, often cheaper) Acer Nitro 16 (or Nitro 5) Why it's good: Acer is the king of "good enough." The Nitro 16 is the newer version. It often goes on sale for dirt cheap. It runs a bit hot and loud, but the performance is solid. Typical Price: 700 - 950 Specs to look for: - CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 or 7 series (avoid Intel i5-13420H if possible, it's slower) - GPU: RTX 4050 or 4060 - RAM: 16GB Catch: The screen on the cheapest Nitro 5 models is VERY dim (250 nits). Pay a little extra for the 100% sRGB or 165Hz screen option. The plastic build feels a bit hollow. The "Lowest You Should Go" (Strictly 700-800) HP Victus 15 (2024 model) Why it's an option: It's often the cheapest way to get a 40-series RTX GPU (like the RTX 4050). Typical Price: 650 - 800 Specs to look for: - GPU: RTX 4050 (Do not buy the RTX 3050 version unless it's under 500) - CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 (the Intel versions have a known hinge issue) The Dealbreaker: The screen hinge is notoriously weak. It wobbles and can break over time. Also, the screen is low-brightness. Only buy this if you absolutely cannot spend 50 more for the Lenovo LOQ. What to ABSOLUTELY AVOID GTX 1650 / RTX 2050 / RTX 3050: These are very old technology. They cannot run new games (like Starfield, Cyberpunk 2077, Alan Wake 2) well at all. Do not buy a laptop with these GPUs in 2024/2025. MSI GF63 / Thin series: These look great but they have the worst build quality, terrible thermal cooling (they overheat and throttle), and a dim, ugly screen. They are a trap. "Intel UHD Graphics" or "AMD Radeon Graphics": These are not gaming GPUs. They are for watching YouTube. The #1 Rule for Cheap Gaming Laptops The GPU (Graphics Card) is more important than the CPU. Good: RTX 4050 (Good for 1080p medium/high settings) Better: RTX 4060 (Great for 1080p high/ultra, good for 1440p) Best Value: RTX 4060 in a Lenovo LOQ or Acer Nitro. Final Quick Recommendation If you have 750: Buy the Lenovo LOQ 15 with Ryzen 5 and RTX 4050. If you have 900: Buy the Lenovo LOQ 15 with Ryzen 7 and RTX 4060. If you have 1,100: You are now out of the "cheap" zone and can look at the ASUS TUF A16 or an open-box Lenovo Legion 5. Don't buy anything with less than an RTX 4050. You will regret it. Save up an extra 100 if you canit makes a massive difference.
This is the holy grail of laptop shopping. "Cheap" usually means under 1,000, and "Good" means you can actually play mod...
Venture into the depths of Azeroth itself in this groundbreaking expansion. Face new threats emerging from the planet's core, explore mysterious underground realms, and uncover secrets that will reshape your understanding of the Warcraft universe forever.
The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
