Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

Of course! If you're looking for games similar to Wizard101, you're likely drawn to its specific blend of turn-based, card-driven combat, MMO social world, school/class-based magic, and family-friendly charm. Heres a breakdown of games that capture different aspects of Wizard101, categorized by what they share. Most Direct Competitors & Spiritual Successors These are the closest in overall feel and structure. Pirate101 (KingsIsle's other major MMO) Why it's similar: Made by the same developer, set in the same "Spiral" universe. It shares the art style, humor, and many locations. The core difference is the combat: it's tactical, grid-based, and uses pirate companions (like a chess-like strategy game), but still uses card-like abilities ("Powers"). Best for: Wizard101 players who want more story in the same world with deeper, strategic combat. Mythweaver (Temporarily closed for relaunch) Why it's similar: This was a very direct spiritual successor made by fans, aiming to modernize the Wizard101 formula with updated graphics and mechanics. It's one to watch for when it re-releases. Games with Similar Card-Based Combat If you love the strategic "deck-building" aspect of choosing spells each turn. Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (Browser Game - Likely Defunct) Why it's similar: This old browser MMO had an almost identical combat system to Wizard101. It's hard to find now but worth mentioning as a clear inspiration. Legends of Runeterra (PvP Focused) Why it's similar: If you only want the deep strategy of card-based combat, this is a top-tier free-to-play game. It's purely 1v1 PvP, not an MMO, but the turn-based back-and-forth and spell interaction will feel familiar and incredibly refined. Slay the Spire / Monster Train (PvE Roguelikes) Why it's similar: These are single-player deck-builders where you build your deck of attacks, skills, and powers as you progress. The strategic, turn-based combat against unique enemies scratches a similar itch, just without the social MMO world. Family-Friendly Fantasy MMOs If you love the social, quest-driven, colorful MMO aspect. World of Warcraft (With parental guidance) Why it's similar: The granddaddy of theme-park MMOs. The questing, dungeons, collecting gear, and class roles (like Fire Mage, Frost Mage) are foundational. It's more complex and less restrictive than W101, but the core MMO joy is there. The art style is cartoony (especially newer expansions). Fiesta Online Why it's similar: A classic, cute, anime-style free-to-play MMO with a strong class system, vibrant world, and social focus. It has real-time combat, not turn-based. AdventureQuest Worlds (AQW) / DragonFable Why it's similar: These 2D flash-style (now updated) MMOs from Artix Entertainment have a huge focus on story, silly humor, collecting tons of classes and gear, and a dedicated community. The combat is simpler but the charm is strong. Toontown (Toontown Rewritten or Corporate Clash) Why it's similar: Another Disney-inspired, family-friendly MMO with turn-based, gimmick-based combat (using gags like pies and squirting flowers instead of spells). The social, task-driven gameplay is very similar in structure. Games with a "School of Magic" Vibe If you loved the idea of attending Ravenwood and choosing a magical school. Harry Potter: Magic Awakened Why it's similar: A mix of RPG, card-based dueling, and social MMO-lite. You attend Hogwarts, learn spells (as cards), and duel other players in real-time with a deck you build. The atmosphere is perfect for the "magic student" fantasy. Magicka 2 Why it's similar: A hilarious, chaotic action game where you combine elemental components (like in W101's "Pip" system) to create spells on the fly. It's not an MMO, but it's all about creative spellcasting, often with friends. The Sims 4: Realm of Magic (Game Pack) * Why it's similar: If you love the fantasy of being a spellcaster, learning spells, brewing potions, and having a familiar, this expansion lets you live out that magical life simulation. Summary & Recommendation Table Game Best For Key Similarity Combat Style : : : : Pirate101 W101 players wanting more Spiral Same dev, world, & humor Tactical Grid / Card-Powers Mythweaver A modern W101-like experience Direct spiritual successor Turn-Based Card (Like W101) Legends of Runeterra Deep card strategy Card-based, turn-based tactics Pure PvP Card Dueling World of Warcraft Epic quests & social MMO feel Class-based progression, dungeons Real-Time Abilities Harry Potter: MA The "magic school" fantasy Student life & card-based duels Real-Time Card Dueling Toontown Rewritten Family-friendly task-based MMO Social, turn-based, quirky Turn-Based "Gag" System Final Tip: If you're a dedicated Wizard101 player, Pirate101 is the absolute first place to look. For a different take on card combat, try Slay the Spire or Harry Potter: Magic Awakened. For a bigger, more open MMO experience, dip into World of Warcraft (try the free trial up to level 20).

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
