Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

Of course! If you're looking for games like Wizard101, you're likely drawn to its unique blend of turn-based, card-based combat, MMO social world, school/class specialization, and family-friendly fantasy setting. Heres a breakdown of games that capture different aspects of Wizard101, categorized by what they do best. Most Similar in Core Gameplay & Feel These are the closest direct parallels, often called "spiritual successors." Pirate101 (KingsIsle Entertainment) The Obvious Choice. Made by the same company, set in the same "Spiral" universe. It swaps wizardry for pirate crews, with tactical, position-based combat. The story, humor, and art style are nearly identical. If you haven't tried it, this is your absolute first stop. Mirage: Arcane Warfare (Older, but similar concept) or newer indie MMOs often try this style, but for a true current alternative, keep an eye on community-driven projects or private servers of older games. The specific "MMO collectible card combat" niche is surprisingly sparse. Similar Turn-Based & Strategic Combat For the satisfying, think-ahead battle system. Final Fantasy XIV Wait, hear me out! While it's a traditional tab-target MMO, the combat at high levels becomes extremely tactical and rhythmic, feeling like a complex dance. The Blue Mage job is literally a spell-collecting class where you learn abilities from enemies, very much like learning new cards. The game is also incredibly social and story-driven. Divinity: Original Sin 2 & Baldur's Gate 3 For the Deep Tactics. These are single-player/co-op RPGs, not MMOs, but they offer the ultimate turn-based combat experience. Positioning, elemental interactions (like making enemies wet then shocking them), and combining abilities are core to the gameplay. If you love strategizing in Wizard101 battles, you'll adore this. XCOM 2 & Marvel's Midnight Suns Pure Tactical & Card-Based. These are squad-tactics games. Midnight Suns, in particular, blends card-based abilities with environmental tactics and a social "hub" (The Abbey), creating a fantastic loop of combat, collection, and character bonding. Similar MMO & Social "School" Fantasy Vibes For the magical world, social hubs, and class identity. World of Warcraft The Classic Fantasy MMO. The Mage, Warlock, and Priest classes will feel familiar. While combat is real-time, the focus on dungeons, collecting gear, spells, and mounts, and being in a vibrant world is very strong. The new "Plunderstorm" event even showed they can do fun, arcade-like combat. Genshin Impact & Honkai: Star Rail Modern "Gacha" RPGs. These are not MMOs but have massive online communities. You collect a team of characters (like different school types), each with elemental abilities. Combat is real-time in Genshin, turn-based in Star Rail. The exploration, story, and constant new content capture that "live game" feeling. Note: They have microtransactions focused on character collection. RuneScape (Old School or RS3) For the Grind & Freedom. Less about pre-defined classes, you level up individual skills (Magic, Runecrafting, Herblore) to create your own "wizard." The charming, quirky world, player-driven economy, and immense freedom are big draws. Fate/Grand Order For the Story & Collection. A mobile turn-based RPG where you collect historical and mythical figures as "Servants" (your spell cards/deck). The story is exceptionally deep, and the combat, while simple, requires team-building strategy. For the Younger Audience & Family Fun Games that share the all-ages appeal. Toontown Rewritten & Club Penguin Rewritten Classic Social MMOs. Toontown, in particular, has turn-based combat (using gags instead of spells) in a colorful, silly world. These are free, fan-run revivals of the classic Disney MMOs that defined the genre alongside Wizard101. Lego Universe (Private Servers like Darkflame Universe) A revived MMO with a heavy focus on imagination, building, and action-based combat in a charming Lego world. Captures that creative, playful spirit. Sky: Children of the Light From the creators of Journey. It's a beautiful, non-combat social MMO about exploration, helping others, and unlocking cosmetics. Perfect for the peaceful, social, and magical aspects. If You Love Collecting & Deckbuilding The joy of building your perfect spellbook. Slay the Spire / Monster Train Single-Player Deckbuilders. These are pure, addictive strategy. You build a deck of cards (attacks, skills, powers) as you progress through a run. The "one more run" feeling is incredibly strong. Hearthstone The Premier Digital Card Game. If you like the idea of card-based combat but want PvP focus, this is it. Build decks around iconic Warcraft classes and duel other players. Summary & Recommendation Path: For the CLOSEST experience: Go straight to Pirate101. For DEEPER tactical combat: Try Divinity: Original Sin 2 or Marvel's Midnight Suns. For a BIG social MMO world: Dive into Final Fantasy XIV (free trial is massive) or World of Warcraft. For a MODERN, beautiful RPG: Try Genshin Impact (action) or Honkai: Star Rail (turn-based). For FAMILY-FRIENDLY social fun: Check out Toontown Rewritten or Sky: Children of the Light. The magic of Wizard101 is in its specific blend, so think about which ingredient you love mostthe combat, the world, the social aspect, or the collectionand pick from the list that emphasizes it!

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
