Of course! 2019 was a fantastic year for the FPS genre, offering a huge variety of experiences from fast-paced arena shooters to cinematic military campaigns and groundbreaking immersive sims. Heres a breakdown of the major titles and trends: Major AAA Releases Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (Reboot) The Big One. This soft-reboot of the iconic series was a massive success. It returned to a gritty, realistic tone, featured a controversial but gripping campaign, and revolutionized the multiplayer with Ground War (large-scale battles) and the tactical, 2v2 Gunfight mode. Its free-to-play battle royale, Warzone, released in 2020, became a global phenomenon. Borderlands 3 The king of the looter-shooter returned. While the story received mixed reactions, the core gameplay was refined to near-perfection. It offered an insane number of guns, four fantastic new Vault Hunters, and co-op mayhem on a galactic scale. Metro Exodus A masterpiece of atmospheric storytelling. It took the linear, claustrophobic Metro series into stunning, semi-open "sandbox" levels. Its focus on survival, resource management, and moral choices made it a standout narrative FPS. DOOM Eternal (2020 Release - But Dominated 2019 Hype) While technically released in March 2020, its gameplay reveal at E3 2019 set the entire year on fire. The "push-forward combat" philosophy was amplified, promising even more aggressive, fast-paced, and strategic demon-slaying. Critical Darlings & Innovative Titles Apex Legends The surprise hit of the year. Respawn Entertainment dropped this free-to-play Titanfall-universe battle royale without any marketing, and it took the world by storm. Its hero-based gameplay (Legends with unique abilities), smooth movement, and revolutionary ping communication system changed the BR landscape forever. Disco Elysium (Yes, really!) Not a shooter in the traditional sense, but a revolutionary RPG that used a first-person perspective and gunplay as a narrative device. It won countless Game of the Year awards for its unparalleled writing and role-playing depth, showing how flexible the "first-person" perspective could be. Ion Fury A love letter to the '90s Build Engine (Duke Nukem 3D, Blood). Made with a modernized version of the old engine, it delivered pure, unadulterated retro FPS action with a killer synth soundtrack and a badass protagonist, Shelly "Bombshell" Harrison. Key Trends of 2019 The Battle Royale Maturation: Apex Legends proved the genre could innovate beyond Fortnite and PUBG with character abilities and superior team communication. The "Boomer Shooter" Revival: The success of Ion Fury and the hype for DOOM Eternal cemented the comeback of fast, movement-heavy, single-player FPS games. Free-to-Play Dominance: Apex Legends (and later Warzone) showed that a high-quality, free-to-play model with strong core gameplay could instantly capture a massive audience. Narrative & Atmosphere: Games like Metro Exodus and even the campaign of Modern Warfare proved there was still a huge appetite for serious, cinematic FPS stories. Notable Mentions & VR Deep Rock Galactic left Early Access in 2020, but its co-op dwarf-mining gameplay was already gaining a cult following in 2019. VR Shooters saw gems like Pavlov VR (Counter-Strike in VR) gaining traction, and Blood & Truth offered a cinematic VR action experience. In summary, 2019 was a year of both refinement and revolution. It had the blockbuster polish of Modern Warfare, the surprise disruption of Apex Legends, the atmospheric depth of Metro Exodus, and the pure fun of Borderlands 3*. It set the stage for the live-service and battle royale trends that would dominate the early 2020s.

The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
