Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) and World of Warcraft (WoW) are two of the most popular MMORPGs, each with distinct strengths and weaknesses. Heres a detailed comparison: Story & Narrative FFXIV: - Strengths: Deep, cinematic storytelling with fully voiced cutscenes (especially in expansions). The narrative is a major focus, akin to a single-player JRPG. - Weaknesses: Slow start (A Realm Reborn can feel tedious), but improves drastically in expansions like Heavensward and Shadowbringers. WoW: - Strengths: Rich lore built over decades, with iconic characters like Arthas and Illidan. - Weaknesses: Storytelling is fragmented, often requiring external sources (books, comics) to fully understand. Recent expansions (Shadowlands, Dragonflight) have been hit-or-miss. Gameplay & Combat FFXIV: - Tab-targeting with GCD-based combat, slower at first but becomes complex with oGCD abilities. - Jobs (classes) are flexibleone character can switch between all roles. - Raids and trials are tightly scripted, favoring precise mechanics execution. WoW: - Faster-paced, reactive combat with more emphasis on mobility and twitch reactions. - Classes have distinct identities but require alts to play different roles. - Mythic+ dungeons and PvP are major strengths. Content & Endgame FFXIV: - Structured around 8-man raids (Savage/Ultimate) and 24-man alliance raids. - More casual-friendly with side activities like housing, crafting (deep system), and Gold Saucer mini-games. - Less focus on gear treadmillnew tiers dont invalidate old content as harshly. WoW: - Mythic+ dungeons (scaling difficulty) and 20-man Mythic raids are core endgame. - More competitive PvP (rated arenas, battlegrounds). - Gear progression is more aggressive, with frequent resets. Community & Social Features FFXIV: - Very friendly, welcoming community (moderated strictly for toxicity). - Strong RP scene (especially on Crystal DC). - Free Companies (guilds) and housing foster social interaction. WoW: - More hardcore/competitive, with some toxicity (though improved in recent years). - Guilds are central for raiding/Mythic+. - Cross-faction play now reduces faction divide. Monetization FFXIV: - Subscription-based (12.9914.99/month) with optional cash shop (cosmetics, story skips). - Free trial includes base game + Heavensward (no time limit). WoW: - Subscription (14.99/month) + expansion purchases. - Cash shop has mounts/pets, but no pay-to-win. Visuals & Music FFXIV: - Stunning anime-inspired art style, with orchestral music by Nobuo Uematsu and team. - More detailed character customization (glamour/transmog system is beloved). WoW: - Cartoony, stylized graphics (holds up well over time). - Iconic soundtrack, but less cinematic than FFXIV. Which One Should You Play? Play FFXIV if: - You love story-driven JRPGs. - Prefer structured, polished group content. - Want a more relaxed, social MMO. Play WoW if: - You enjoy fast-paced combat and competitive endgame. - Like dungeon crawling (Mythic+) or PvP. - Prefer a more traditional, gear-focused MMO. Final Verdict FFXIV excels in storytelling, community, and variety of content. WoW is stronger in competitive PvE/PvP and has more dynamic combat. Both are greattry FFXIVs free trial or WoWs subscription (includes all expansions except the latest) to see which fits you best!

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
