Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

Both Final Fantasy XIV (FFXIV) and Black Desert Online (BDO) are popular MMORPGs, but they cater to very different player preferences. Heres a detailed comparison: Gameplay & Combat FFXIV: - Tab-targeting combat: Slower, strategic, and rotation-based (like classic WoW). - Class-based system: Jobs (classes) have defined roles (Tank, Healer, DPS). - Emphasis on group content: Raids, dungeons, and trials require teamwork. - Story-driven: Heavy focus on narrative (like a single-player FF game). BDO: - Action combat: Fast-paced, combo-based, and skill-shot oriented (similar to hack-and-slash games). - No strict class roles: Every class is DPS-focused with self-sustain. - Solo-friendly: Most content can be done alone, including grinding and life skills. - Sandbox elements: Open-world PvP, node wars, and extensive crafting. Graphics & Art Style FFXIV: - Stylized anime/realistic blend: Bright, colorful, and polished. - Detailed character customization (but limited compared to BDO). BDO: - Hyper-realistic graphics: Stunning visuals with advanced physics (e.g., hair/cloth movement). - Best-in-class character creator: Extremely detailed customization. Progression & Gear FFXIV: - Linear gear progression: Gear is obtained via dungeons, raids, or crafting. - No RNG upgrades: Predictable stat upgrades. - Vertical progression: New expansions raise level caps and gear tiers. BDO: - RNG-heavy gear upgrades: Enhancing gear can fail and downgrade items (high risk/reward). - Horizontal progression: Gear can be upgraded indefinitely, but with diminishing returns. - Grind-heavy: Best gear comes from hours of mob grinding or marketplace flipping. Monetization FFXIV: - Subscription-based (12.9914.99/month) with optional cash shop (cosmetics, mounts). - Free trial up to Lv. 70 (includes base game + first two expansions). BDO: - Buy-to-play (often on sale for 510) with optional subscription (Value Pack). - Heavy cash shop influence: Pay-for-convenience (inventory slots, pets, costumes). - P2W concerns: Some items give advantages, though not strictly required. Community & Social Features FFXIV: - Very social: Strong emphasis on guilds (Free Companies), group content, and roleplaying. - Friendly community: Known for being welcoming to new players. BDO: - More competitive: Open-world PvP, guild wars, and node battles. - Less mandatory grouping: Many players focus on solo grinding or lifeskilling. Endgame Content FFXIV: - Raids (Savage/Ultimate): High-difficulty boss fights. - Dungeons & Trials: Story-focused instanced content. - Housing & Crafting: Deep but optional systems. BDO: - PvP: Node wars, siege battles, open-world PK. - Grinding: Endless mob farming for silver/gear. - Life Skills: Fishing, trading, horse training, etc. Which One Should You Play? Play FFXIV if you - Love story-driven, structured MMOs. - Prefer cooperative PvE content. - Want a polished, subscription-based experience. Play BDO if you - Prefer action combat and open-world freedom. - Enjoy grinding, PvP, or sandbox elements. - Dont mind RNG-heavy progression or cash shop mechanics. Final Verdict FFXIV = Best for story lovers, casual-friendly, group PvE. BDO = Best for action combat fans, grinders, and PvP enthusiasts. Both are great, but they target very different audiences!

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
