Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

Choosing an external hard drive for a gaming laptop is a balancing act between speed (to keep load times reasonable) and capacity (to store massive game files). Here is the breakdown of what you need, with specific recommendations based on your budget and needs. The Golden Rule: SSD vs. HDD For playing modern games (2020+): You must use an External SSD. Modern games (Call of Duty, Cyberpunk, Starfield, Fortnite) stream textures in real-time. An HDD will cause stuttering, texture pop-in, and very long load times. For storing old games / backups: A standard External HDD is fine. It is much cheaper per gigabyte, but you should not install modern AAA titles on it. Best Overall: The "Samsung T7 Shield" (Portable SSD) This is the current gold standard for gaming laptops. Why: It is fast (1050 MB/s read/write), tiny, extremely durable (IP65 water/dust resistant, can survive a 3-meter drop), and runs cool. Capacity: 1TB or 2TB. Connection: USB-C (USB 3.2 Gen 2). Works perfectly with USB4 / Thunderbolt 4 laptops. Verdict: Plug it in, install games, play. No power cable needed. Alternative (Cheaper): SanDisk Extreme Portable SSD Very similar performance, slightly less rugged. The Budget King: Crucial X9 Pro or the WD Black D30 If you want "good enough" speed without the premium price. Crucial X9 Pro: Offers the same 1050 MB/s speed as the Samsung for a lower price. WD_BLACK D30: Specifically designed for gaming. It has an "Xbox/PlayStation" look but works perfectly on PC. Its usually a bit slower (900 MB/s) but is highly reliable. Note: All of these are small enough to slip into your laptop bag's pocket. They are powered by the USB port. The "Performance" Option: Sabrent Rocket XTRM-Q (NVMe Enclosure) If you want the absolute fastest load times (just below internal SSD speeds). Why: It uses an internal NVMe PCIe 4.0 drive in an external enclosure. Speed: Up to 3000 MB/s (3x faster than the Samsung T7). Catch: It is more expensive, gets warmer (but is designed for it), and is slightly larger. Who needs this: Only if you are a competitive gamer who hates waiting for 10 seconds instead of 5 seconds for level loads. The "Budget & Capacity" Option: Seagate Game Drive for Xbox / WD Black P10 (HDD) If you are on a strict budget or need 4TB+ for a game library. Speed: 120-160 MB/s (mechanical drive). Verdict: Do not install new games on this. Use it for: - Storing old games (2018 or older). - Storing game install files (you copy them to your internal SSD when you want to play). - Backup of your laptop. Best for: Someone with a 512GB SSD laptop who doesn't play many new games. Critical Decision: USB-C vs. USB-A & USB Speed Thunderbolt 4 / USB4 / USB 3.2 Gen 2 (10-40Gbps): Your gaming laptop likely has this. Buy a USB-C to USB-C cable drive. (Almost all SSDs above come with this). - Result: You get full speed (1,000 MB/s). USB 3.2 Gen 1 (5Gbps): If your laptop only has USB-A (big rectangle port), you will be limited to 500 MB/s. - Result: The Samsung T7 will still work, but you are wasting half its speed. Buy a WD_BLACK D30 or a cheaper drive instead. Recommendation by Scenario Your Situation Best Drive Why : : : "I play new AAA games (COD, Cyberpunk) on the go." Samsung T7 Shield 1TB Fastest, most durable, tiny. "I need 4TB for my entire Steam library." WD_Black P10 Game Drive (HDD) Cheap per TB. Store games, copy to internal SSD to play. "I'm broke but want fast load times." Crucial X9 Pro (512GB) Cheapest decent SSD. "I want the absolute fastest load times." Sabrent Rocket XTRM-Q 1TB Near-internal NVMe speed. One Final Pro-Tip PROBLEM: Many gaming laptops only have a 256GB or 512GB SSD. SOLUTION: Plug the external SSD in, but uninstall games from your internal drive. Steam/Xbox App/Epic allows you to create a "Library Folder" on the external drive. Set this as default. Warning: Do not leave the drive plugged in while moving the laptop around a lot. The USB-C port can be physically fragile. Unplug it when you put the laptop in your bag. My #1 Pick: Get the Samsung T7 Shield 1TB or 2TB. It is the safest, fastest, most reliable option for a gaming laptop that won't fail you.

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
