Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

EVE Online in 2003 was a vastly different experience compared to todays version, with a more hardcore, minimalist, and player-driven sandbox. Heres a breakdown of its early gameplay: Core Gameplay (2003) Sandbox Freedom - No hand-holding: Players were dropped into space with minimal tutorials, relying on community help or trial-and-error. - No NPC-driven storylines or "theme park" questseverything was player-driven. Ship & Combat - Fewer ship classes (no Tech 2 ships at launch; they were added later in 2004). - Simpler weapon systems (lasers, projectiles, missiles, hybrids). - Manual piloting (no "orbit at 500m" automationplayers had to manually control speed/direction). Economy & Industry - Entirely player-run economy (no NPC sell orders). - Mining was a primary source of raw materials. - Manufacturing required careful planning due to limited tools. PvP & Consequences - Full-loot PvP: Losing a ship meant losing everything unless insured. - No "safety" mechanicsganking in high-security space was possible (though Concord would retaliate). - No skill injectorstraining took real-time, making losses more painful. Exploration & Progression - No scanning probes (added in 2007); exploration was basic. - Fewer NPC threats (rats were simpler, Sanshas Nation wasnt a major faction yet). - Learning skills (removed later) forced players to train useless skills to progress. Corporations & Alliances - Player corps were the only way to organize (no NPC corps for PvP protection). - Early alliances like Band of Brothers and Curse Alliance shaped nullsec politics. - No sovereignty mechanics (later added in 2005). Graphics & UI - Primitive 3D graphics (much less detailed than today). - Clunky UI with limited customization. - No "NPE" (New Player Experience)many quit due to the steep learning curve. Key Differences from Modern EVE More Punishing: Losing a ship was a bigger setback due to slower skill training and harder ISK-making. Simpler Mechanics: Fewer ship modules, no faction warfare, no abyssal deadspace. Community Reliance: No official wiki or detailed guidesplayers relied on forums and word-of-mouth. Slower Pace: Travel took longer (no jump drives), and communication was mostly in-game or via IRC. Legacy EVE 2003 was brutal but laid the foundation for its reputation as the ultimate open-world MMO. Many veterans still reminisce about the "golden age" of chaos and freedom. Would you like details on a specific aspect (e.g., early PvP, mining, or the first major wars)?

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
