Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

You're likely asking about Tim Sweeney, the co-founder and CEO of Epic Games. Here's a detailed breakdown: Tim Sweeney Role: Founder, CEO, and majority shareholder of Epic Games. Born: 1970 in Potomac, Maryland, USA. Background: Started programming as a teenager. Studied mechanical engineering at the University of Maryland but dropped out to focus on his software company. Personality: Known as a brilliant, hands-on technical visionary and a fierce advocate for an open digital ecosystem. He is famously media-shy compared to other tech CEOs but has become a very public figure in the "Apple vs. Epic" legal battles. Key Achievements & Impact as CEO: Building Epic Games: He founded the company as "Potomac Computer Systems" in 1991, later renamed Epic MegaGames and then Epic Games. He personally wrote the core of the first Unreal Engine. Vision for the "Metaverse": Sweeney is one of the most vocal proponents of the metaverse concept. He envisions a connected, persistent virtual world made up of many interoperable experiences, not controlled by any single company (especially not Apple or Google). This vision drives much of Epic's strategy. The Epic Games Store & "The Developer-Friendly Model": In 2018, he launched the Epic Games Store to challenge Steam's dominance. Its key weapon: a 88%/12% revenue split (in favor of the developer), much more generous than Steam's 70%/30%. This move pressured the entire PC storefront market to improve terms for developers. He has spent heavily on exclusive games and free weekly game giveaways to attract users, funding this strategy with Fortnite's profits. The Legal Crusade Against Platform "Taxes": Sweeney's most public battle is against the 30% commission taken by Apple and Google on their mobile app stores. In 2020, Epic deliberately violated App Store rules by adding a direct payment option to Fortnite, triggering a massive lawsuit. While the rulings have been mixed, the case has sparked global regulatory scrutiny and forced Apple and Google to slightly relax their rules. Sweeney frames this as a fight for freedom and fairness for all developers. Stewardship of Key Properties: Unreal Engine: Under his leadership, Unreal Engine has become the world's leading real-time 3D creation tool, dominating not just games but also film, television, architecture, and automotive design. Fortnite: He greenlit and supported the development of Fortnite, which evolved from a cooperative survival game into a global cultural phenomenon under the "Battle Royale" mode. Its success bankrolls all of Epic's ambitious projects. Controversies & Criticisms: Hypocrisy Claims: Critics point out that while Epic sues Apple over its "walled garden," the Epic Games Store is itself a walled garden, and Epic has exclusive deals that limit player choice. "Money Hatting": The practice of paying for exclusives on the Epic Games Store is unpopular with some segments of the PC gaming community. Workplace Culture: Epic has faced lawsuits and criticism over alleged "crunch" culture and gender discrimination, though the company has stated it is working to improve. Tencent Stake: In 2012, Sweeney sold a 40% minority stake in Epic to the Chinese conglomerate Tencent. He retains controlling interest and decision-making power, but the partnership is sometimes scrutinized. In Summary: Tim Sweeney is not just a CEO; he is a foundational programmer and a strategic disruptor. He uses the financial might of Fortnite to fund a multi-front war: creating the tools for the metaverse (Unreal Engine), building a store to distribute it, and fighting in court and the court of public opinion to shape its rules. Whether viewed as a champion for developers or a shrewd monopolist-in-the-making, he is undeniably one of the most influential figures shaping the future of digital interactive entertainment.

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
