Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

Of course! The 1990s were the founding era of Epic Games, a period of raw creativity, shareware, and the birth of a legendary game engine. It was a decade of transformation from a humble shareware studio to a major industry player. Heres a breakdown of Epic Games in the 90s: The Early Days: Shareware & Pinball (1991-1994) Founded: 1991 as Potomac Computer Systems by Tim Sweeney in his parents' house in Potomac, Maryland. It quickly became Epic MegaGames. Business Model: The shareware model was king. They'd release the first episode of a game for free, and players would mail-order (yes, by mail!) the rest. First Big Hit: ZZT (1991). A simple ASCII-character-based game creation system. Its editor let players make their own games, fostering a massive online community. This community-building ethos would become an Epic hallmark. The "Mega" Collection: Epic acted as a publisher for many solo developers. Their early catalog was eclectic: Jill of the Jungle (1992): A side-scrolling platformer. Ken's Labyrinth (1993): An early first-person shooter using the same engine as Wolfenstein 3D. One Must Fall: 2097 (1994): A beloved, fast-paced fighting game with giant robots. Epic Pinball (1993): A hugely successful digital pinball game that funded much of their early growth. The 3D Revolution & The Birth of a Legend (1995-1998) This is when Epic truly entered the big leagues. Jazz Jackrabbit 2 (1994/98): Their answer to Sonic the Hedgehog, a polished, colorful platformer that gained a cult following. The Game Changer: Unreal (1998). This was the watershed moment. The Game: A groundbreaking sci-fi first-person shooter with vast, beautiful levels, smart AI, and a revolutionary graphics engine. The Engine: The Unreal Engine. It was licensed to other developers almost immediately, starting a business that would eventually eclipse game sales. Its integrated scripting language (UnrealScript) and tools made it a favorite for modders and pros alike. Acquisition of a Titan: In 1998, Epic acquired Digital Extremes, the co-developer of Unreal, and they began work on Unreal Tournament. Culmination: Dominating the End of the Decade (1999) Unreal Tournament (1999): This wasn't just a game; it was a phenomenon. It perfected the fast-paced, arena-style multiplayer shooter. Its tight gameplay, modding support, and bot matches (for offline play) made it a staple of LAN parties and a critical darling. It directly competed with id Software's Quake III Arena and defined a genre. Key People of the 90s: Tim Sweeney: Founder, lead programmer, and engine architect. The visionary. Mark Rein: Co-founder and outspoken vice-president, handling business and publicity. Cliff Bleszinski: Hired as a teenager after making ZZT games. He became a designer on Jazz Jackrabbit and the public face of Unreal and Unreal Tournament ("CliffyB"). James Schmalz: A key early developer and designer of Unreal. Legacy of the 90s for Epic: Engine First: The decision to license the Unreal Engine set the course for the company's future (leading to Unreal Engine 5 and the metaverse ambitions of today). Community & Mods: Games like ZZT and Unreal Tournament thrived on user-created content, a philosophy central to Fortnite decades later. Technical Excellence: They established a reputation for pushing graphical boundaries. From Shareware to AAA: They successfully navigated the transition from a bedroom coding operation to a premier developer competing with id Software and others. In short, the 90s for Epic was the journey from Tim Sweeney's basement, distributing games on floppy disks, to releasing Unreal Tournamenta game that defined online multiplayer for a generation and launching a technological empire with the Unreal Engine.* It was the perfect, innovative foundation for everything that followed.

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
