Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

Here is a dramatic premise and opening scene for a story titled "Veil of Shadows." The Premise: In the glittering, cutthroat world of high society theater in 1920s New York, the rising starlet, CORDELIA VANCE, is the darling of the critics. But her talent comes with a curse. Every time she steps onto a stage, the Veila metaphysical barrier between reality and fictionthins. For her, the characters she plays are not just roles; they are spirits that inhabit her, showing her their true, often tragic, memories. When she is cast as the lead in a new, highly anticipated play, The Serpents Kiss, she begins to see a terrifying vision: a woman in a silver dress being pushed from the theaters top balcony. Its not a scene from the play. Its a real memory. As Cordelia digs deeper, she discovers the play is adapted from a true unsolved murder that occurred in the same theater twenty years ago. The killer, she realizes, is still among the cast and crew, and they are determined to make sure this productionand Cordeliaends before the final curtain. Scene: Opening Night Rehearsal THE SETTING: The majestic but dusty Lyceum Theatre. A single, harsh worklight illuminates the stage. Dust motes dance in the beam like tiny, trapped souls. In the empty velvet seats of the auditorium, a single figure sits in the dark: the director, LEO MAKEPEACE. THE CHARACTERS: CORDELIA VANCE (24): Electric, fragile, and burning with an otherworldly talent. Her eyes hold the secrets of a thousand unplayed roles. LEO MAKEPEACE (50s): A genius with a cruel streak. His face is a handsome ruin, his eyes sharp and hungry. He collects talent the way a cat collects dead birds. ALISTAIR FINCH (30s): The matinee idol, charming and hollow. He plays the villain in the play, but there is something too easy about his cruelty. MRS. HAVERSHAM (70s): The ancient, hawk-like Stage Manager. She has seen everything in this theater, and remembers all of it. (The scene begins. CORDELIA is alone on stage, rehearsing the climactic monologue. She is playing LILITH, a woman who has just killed her lover. Her voice is a low, trembling thing.) CORDELIA (as Lilith) I did not want it to end in blood. I wanted it to end in a whisper. But he would not whisper. He roared. And when a man roars, my darling, he asks for a cage. He asks for a knife. He asks for the silence that only I can give. (She stops. Her body stiffens. The air in the theater seems to grow cold. A shadow moves across the back wall, a shadow that does not belong to her. It is a woman in a flapper dress, her neck twisted at an impossible angle.) CORDELIA (whispering, breaking character) No not yet. The scene is Act Three. This is wrong. (LEOs voice cuts through the dark like a razor.) LEO (from the orchestra) Its perfect. Stay with it. You looked terrified. Its the most real youve been all night. What are you seeing? (Cordelia turns, her face pale. She is no longer Lilith. She is just a frightened young woman.) CORDELIA The woman. In the silver dress. Shes here. Shes standing behind the scrim, Leo. Shes pointing at you. (A beat. Leo stands up slowly. The scrape of his chair echoes.) LEO There is no scrim, Cordelia. Thats just the brick wall. Youre letting the role get into your head. Its a sign of greatness. Its also a sign of madness. (ALISTAIR enters from stage left, lighting a cigarette. He smirks, the smoke curling around his perfect features.) ALISTAIR Madness or method? Theres a fine line, darling. And youre walking it like a tightrope over a pit of starving crocodiles. CORDELIA You dont see her, Alistair? Right behind you. Her eyes are open. (Alistair looks behind him. Nothing. He turns back, his smile stiffening.) ALISTAIR I see a drafty theater and a woman on the verge of a nervous breakdown. A thrilling combination. (MRS. HAVERSHAM creaks out from the wings. She holds a yellowed newspaper clipping. Her voice is dry as bone.) MRS. HAVERSHAM She was called Marguerite. The papers said she fell. But the fall was too perfect. A fall from that balcony is a wild thing. It spins you. She landed straight as a soldier. You dont fall like that, Miss Vance. Youre placed like that. (Mrs. Haversham holds the clipping out. Its a photo of a woman in a silver dress. The same woman Cordelia saw. The caption reads: "Actress Marguerite Bellamy, found dead after opening night of The Serpents Kiss.") (Cordelias blood runs cold. A terrifying quiet descends.) LEO (softly, dangerously) Old ghosts, Haversham. Let them rest. We have a new Serpent to kiss. And this time we get the ending right. (Leo looks at Cordelia. There is no warmth in his eyes. There is only the cold calculation of a man who has seen a ghost and decided to use it for the good of the show.) LEO (CONT'D) You will play that scene again. And this time, Cordelia you will mean it. You will feel her fall in your bones. Because if you dont I will be very disappointed. (He turns and walks back to his seat. The worklight flickers. For a split second, the stage is plunged into absolute darkness. When the light returns, a single silver earring lies center stage. The same earring Marguerite wore in the photograph.) CORDELIA (a whisper of pure terror) The veil is thin. (BLACKOUT.) END OF SCENE This story would then unfold as a psychological thriller and a ghost story, where Cordelia must use the "memories" of her character to solve a decades-old murder before the curtain closes on her own life.

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
