destiny 2 game engine
Destiny 2 runs on a proprietary game engine called the Tiger Engine, which is an evolution of the engine used in the original Destiny (2014). The Tiger Engine was originally based on Bungie's older Blam! Engine (used in the Halo series) but has been heavily modified over the years to support Destinys unique features. Key Features of the Tiger Engine: Hybrid P2P & Dedicated Server Architecture - Destiny 2 uses a hybrid networking model where player vs. environment (PvE) activities rely on peer-to-peer (P2P) connections, while player vs. player (PvP) modes use dedicated servers for certain critical calculations (though not fully server-authoritative). Physics & AI Systems - The engine handles complex enemy AI behaviors, physics interactions (e.g., ragdoll effects, projectile ballistics), and large-scale battles. Seamless World Streaming - Allows for open-world zones (like Neomuna or The Dreaming City) to load dynamically without traditional loading screens (except for major transitions). Real-Time Lighting & Shaders - Supports advanced lighting, particle effects, and shaders to create Destinys iconic visual style. Cross-Platform Play Support - The engine was updated to enable cross-play (PC, Xbox, PlayStation) and cross-save functionality. Content Pipeline & Live Updates - Designed for Destinys "games-as-a-service" model, allowing for frequent updates, seasonal content, and expansions without full game patches. Limitations & Criticisms: P2P Networking Issues: Leads to occasional lag, hit registration problems, and exploits in PvP. Engine Complexity: Some developers have described it as difficult to work with, leading to long development cycles for fixes and new features. Memory Constraints: Older-gen consoles (PS4/Xbox One) limited design choices, though Lightfall and The Final Shape have pushed beyond those restrictions. Future of the Engine: Bungie continues to iterate on the Tiger Engine, with improvements seen in The Witch Queen and Lightfall expansions. The studio is also working on a new "Matter" engine for future projects, but Destiny 2 will likely remain on Tiger for the foreseeable future. Would you like details on a specific aspect (e.g., networking, rendering, mod tools)?

The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
