death spells wizard101
Of course. This is a classic and powerful question in Wizard101. "Death Spells" can refer to two main things: the spells available to the School of Death, and the spells that cause the "Death" effect (the Sacrifice mechanic). Let's break down both, focusing on the iconic and most useful spells for a Death wizard. I. The School of Death: Core Philosophy & Best Spells Death is the ultimate self-sustaining tank/solo school. Its signature mechanic is draining: dealing damage and healing yourself for a portion of it. This makes Death wizards incredibly durable and excellent for soloing difficult content. Early Game (Levels 1-49) - The Foundation Death Blade & Death Trap: Your essential buffs. Stack these to make your hits bigger. Dark Pixie (Level 2): Your first drain. The backbone of early gameplay. Ghoul (Level 7): A stronger single-target drain. Reliable for many levels. Feint (Level 26): Arguably the most important spell in the entire game. It gives a huge +70% trap to the enemy (and a -70% weakness to you, which can be cleverly used or shielded). Every wizard should get this from Death up to Feint. Wraith (Level 42): A major upgrade, your first "big" drain. This will carry you through mid-game. Mid Game (Levels 50-99) - Power Spikes Scarecrow (Level 48): The iconic Death spell. A 4-pip AoE (hits all enemies) that drains from each. This is your farming and soloing workhorse. An absolute game-changer. Deer Knight (Craftable/Lore/Spellements): A must-have. A 4-pip AoE that also leaves a Damage-Over-Time (DoT). Often used before Scarecrow because it's easier to get earlier via crafting or spellements. Dr. Von's Monster (Level 62): A powerful single-target drain that also gives you a +40% Death Blade. Fantastic for boss fights. Late Game & Top-Tier (Level 100+) Call of Khrulhu (Level 100): A massive 7-pip AoE that drains and removes a charm from each enemy. The upgrade to Scarecrow. Ship of Fools (Level 130, from Spellements/Packs): Arguably the best Death AoE. A 4-pip AoE that deals slightly more base damage than Scarecrow and has a better secondary effect (a Death Trap on the enemy). Lulu (Lord of Night, Level 145): A two-hit drain that places a powerful DoT. Incredible for single-target boss elimination. Mystic Colossus (Level 160): A powerful single-target hit that applies a stacking -25% Death Weakness on the enemy, setting them up for a finishing blow. II. Spells with the "Death Effect" (Sacrifice) This is a unique mechanic where a spell kills one of your own minions to produce a powerful effect. It's a strategic tool, especially before you get your best drains. Sacrifice (Level 18): The original. Kills your minion to heal yourself a significant amount. A great "oh no" button. Donate Power (Level 38): Kills your minion to give you 2 power pips. Excellent for speeding up your setup. Empower (Level 58, Balance School): Not a Death spell, but the most famous sacrifice spell. Kills your minion to give you 4 pips. Used by wizards of all schools for pip conversion strategies. How to Get Death Spells (Beyond Leveling) Training Points: Buy Death spells up to Feint from Dworgyn in the Death School in Ravenwood. Crafting: Spells like Deer Knight, Handsome Fomori, and Avenging Fossil are obtained through crafting. Spellements: The modern way to unlock and upgrade spells like Ship of Fools, Dread Raven, and Call of Khrulhu through various activities (boss farming, packs, rewards). Lore Master: In the Atheneum (Dragonspyre), she drops lore spell cards like Deer Knight and Khrulhu. Packs & Bundles: Some premium spells come from packs (e.g., Ship of Fools was first in the Professors' Hoard Pack). Quick Tips for Playing a Death Wizard Solo Strategy: Blade up -> Trap -> Hit with a drain (like Wraith or Scarecrow). You heal as you damage. Team Role: You are a supportive damage dealer. You can use Feint to boost the team's hitter, and your drains mean the healer can focus less on you. Pet Essential: Look for a pet that gives a Death-Dealer (damage) and Spell-Proof (resist) talents. A pet with a Blade or Feint card is a huge bonus. Key Gear: Always prioritize Damage and Resist. Death's innate healing means you don't need to stack "Outgoing Healing" as much as Life wizards do. In summary: For a Death wizard, focus on getting Feint, then Deer Knight/Scarecrow for AoE, and build towards your late-game power spikes like Ship of Fools and Lulu. Your strength is in your incredible sustainability and versatile role in any team.

The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
