There are numerous AI tools available for Unreal Engine 5, ranging from official Epic Games solutions to third-party plugins that leverage generative AI for content creation, animation, and world building. Here is a breakdown of the best AI tools for UE5, categorized by their function. Official Epic Games AI Tools (Free) These are built directly into the engine or provided by Epic. MetaHuman Animator: An industry-changing tool for high-fidelity facial animation. - What it does: It uses an iPhone (with TrueDepth camera) or a stereo head-mounted camera to capture a performance (facial movements and expressions) and then transfers that performance to any MetaHuman character in real-time. - Why use it: It produces Hollywood-quality facial animation in minutes without needing expensive motion capture hardware or cleaning up data. ML Deformer (Machine Learning Deformer): A free plugin that dramatically improves character deformation. - What it does: It trains a machine learning model on high-quality reference shapes (like a sculpted muscle pose). The AI then predicts how the skin should deform when the skeleton moves, reducing "candy wrapper" or "bowtie" artifacts at joints. - Why use it: It allows you to have high-fidelity, realistic skin and muscle deformation on game-characters at a fraction of the performance cost of traditional methods. Motion Matching (Via State Trees): While not strictly "AI" in the current hype sense, it uses a sophisticated search algorithm. - What it does: It searches a large database of pre-recorded animations (e.g., walking, jogging, turning) to find the best frame to blend, creating fluid, context-aware character movement without needing complex blend trees. - Why use it: Creates incredibly smooth and responsive character locomotion. Third-Party Generative AI Plugins (Cost / Subscription) These are the main tools that use modern generative AI (LLMs, image gen, etc.) directly within UE5. Text-to-Texture / Image Generation: - Scene Fusion (): A powerful tool that allows you to generate textures, HDRIs, and even 3D assets directly inside the engine using Stable Diffusion (locally or via cloud). You can paint on a model with masks and have the AI fill in the texture based on a prompt. Best for rapid prototyping and creating unique textures. - Polygon Path (by Polygonflow) (): An ambitious toolset aiming to be an "AI Game Designer." It allows you to generate entire 3D scenes from text prompts or blockout directly in UE5. - Key Feature: Spline. You can draw a spline (a path or road) and describe it ("cobblestone street in a rainy cyberpunk alley") and it will populate it with buildings, props, and lighting. AI-Powered Animation & Rigging: - AccuRIG (by Reallusion) (Free/Pro): Fully automatic character rigging from an FBX or OBJ file. You import a static mesh, and it instantly creates a full biped skeleton with IK and controllers, ready for animation in UE5. - DeepMotion (Integrates via Plugin) (): Convert standard video footage into 3D animation. You can record a person on your phone, upload it, and download an FBX animation that can be imported into UE5. Great for quick, realistic human motion. World Building & Proceduralism: - City Sample & PCG (Procedural Content Generation) (Free): Epics sample project uses Houdini and PCG rules to generate a massive, detailed city. While not generative AI, it's the direct competitor to that idea. Combined with Text-to-3D tools (like Luma AI or Kaedim, which integrate via export/import), you can quickly populate worlds. AI Voice & Dialogue: - ElevenLabs Integration (Via Blueprints): You can write a Blueprint in UE5 to call the ElevenLabs API. This allows NPCs to have dynamically generated, high-quality speech from text input, enabling dynamic conversations. Workflow / Development AI Tools (Outside UE5) These tools generate assets that you then import into UE5. They are essential for a modern workflow. AI 3D Modeling: - Kaedim3D (): The most reliable for game-ready assets. Upload a concept art image, and it generates a low-poly, textured 3D model optimized for Unreal Engine. - Luma AI / Nerf: Use your phone to scan real-world objects or locations, and it generates a high-fidelity 3D mesh (Nerf or Gaussian Splat). You can import these as photogrammetry assets into UE5 for hyper-realistic environments. AI Code Assistance (For C++ developers): - GitHub Copilot / Cursor: While not a plugin, these are arguably the most powerful AI tools for UE5 devs. Writing C++ for Unreal is complex. Copilot can autocomplete complex blueprint function calls, spawn actors, and write complex gameplay logic based on your comments. Summary: Which tool should you choose? For the best value & core tech: MetaHuman Animator (if you do characters) + ML Deformer + AccuRIG. For rapid prototyping environments: Polygon Path or Scene Fusion. For solo developers or small teams: Focus on Kaedim (3D modeling) + DeepMotion (animation) + ElevenLabs (voice). This gives you a one-person team the output of a 10-person team. For high-end AAA cinematics: MetaHuman Animator + ML Deformer. For procedural world building: PCG + City Sample. Important Note: No single AI tool can yet replace a human artist for high-quality, final-ship work. The best approach is to combine AI tools to accelerate the prototyping and blockout phase, then refine by hand. Always check the license terms (e.g., Scene Fusion's license for commercial use of generated textures).

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
