Fantasy MMORPG PvE Raids Guilds

The 1990s were a golden era for MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games), laying the foundation for the genre's explosive growth in the 2000s. Here are some of the most iconic 90s MMORPGs: Ultima Online (1997) - Developer: Origin Systems (EA) - Key Features: - First truly successful MMORPG with a persistent open world. - Player-driven economy, housing, and PvP. - Sandbox-style gameplay with skill-based progression. EverQuest (1999) - Developer: Verant Interactive / Sony Online Entertainment - Key Features: - 3D graphics (for the time) and a vast fantasy world (Norrath). - Group-based dungeon crawling ("raids"). - Huge influence on later MMOs like World of Warcraft. Meridian 59 (1996) - Developer: 3DO Company - Key Features: - One of the first 3D MMORPGs. - Subscription-based model before it was common. - PvP-focused gameplay. The Realm Online (1996) - Developer: Sierra Online - Key Features: - One of the earliest graphical MMOs. - Simple, cartoonish graphics but innovative for its time. Asherons Call (1999) - Developer: Turbine Entertainment - Key Features: - Dynamic world with monthly story updates ("live events"). - More action-oriented combat than EverQuest. Nexus: The Kingdom of the Winds (1996) - Developer: Nexon (South Korea) - Key Features: - One of the first Korean MMORPGs. - 2D isometric graphics with a strong social focus. Honorable Mentions: - Dark Sun Online: Crimson Sands (1996) Based on the D&D setting. - Neverwinter Nights (AOL, 1991-1997) Not the BioWare game; an early text-based MMO. Why These Games Mattered: Pioneered persistent online worlds with thousands of players. Established core mechanics like quests, guilds, and raids. Inspired later giants like World of Warcraft (2004). Many of these games still have private servers or spiritual successors today. Would you like recommendations for modern games with a 90s MMO feel?

Great raids, some bugs

The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
