Ah, the golden age of 80s RPGs! The decade was packed with groundbreaking titles that laid the foundation for modern role-playing games. Here are some iconic 80s RPGs across platforms (computer, console, and tabletop): Computer RPGs (CRPGs) Ultima series (1981) Origin Systems - Ultima I: The First Age of Darkness (1981) - Ultima IV: Quest of the Avatar (1985) A moral-driven RPG that influenced later games. Wizardry series (1981) Sir-Tech - Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord (1981) A dungeon crawler that inspired Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. The Bards Tale series (1985) Interplay - The Bards Tale I: Tales of the Unknown (1985) A party-based dungeon crawler with a humorous twist. Might and Magic series (1986) New World Computing - Might and Magic I: The Secret of the Inner Sanctum (1986) Open-world exploration with tactical combat. Dungeon Master (1987) FTL Games (Real-time dungeon crawler with innovative mechanics). Console RPGs (JRPGs) Dragon Quest (Dragon Warrior in the West) (1986) Enix - The grandfather of JRPGs, introducing turn-based combat and a fantasy world. Final Fantasy (1987) Square - The first in the legendary series, featuring a class system and epic storytelling. Phantasy Star (1987) Sega - A sci-fi RPG for the Sega Master System with female protagonists and 3D dungeons. Tabletop RPGs (Pen & Paper) Advanced Dungeons & Dragons (AD&D) TSR - Core rulebooks expanded in the 80s, shaping video game RPGs. Call of Cthulhu (1981) Chaosium - Horror-themed RPG based on H.P. Lovecrafts mythos. Traveller (1977, but peaked in the 80s) GDW - Sci-fi RPG with deep character creation and space exploration. Honorable Mentions Rogue (1980) The first true roguelike, inspiring NetHack and modern roguelites. Zork series (text-based adventure, but RPG-adjacent). Why Were 80s RPGs Special? Pioneered open-world exploration. Introduced deep character progression. Established turn-based and real-time combat systems. Many franchises (Ultima, Wizardry, Final Fantasy) are still influential today. If you're looking to play them today, many are available on GOG, Steam, or retro emulation. Would you like recommendations for a specific type (dungeon crawler, story-driven, etc.)?

The War Within brings so much fresh content to WoW. The new zones are absolutely stunning and the storyline is engaging. Been playing for 15 years and this expansion reignited my passion for the game.
The new raid content is fantastic with challenging mechanics. However, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Overall a solid expansion that keeps me coming back for more.
